The cursing he had expected, even the sword pointing and maybe yes even to actually be stabbed by her. It definitely wouldn’t be the first time after all. Letting out a sigh, Guts looked up, mostly to let Casca get the cursing and confusion out of her system before he tried to take this any step further. Of course she was emotional about him suddenly blurting out words he couldn’t even whisper when they’d been intimate, randomly while trying to convince her to leave Griffith with Jerdeu after how long she’d struggled to get him back. By the time he looked back down she was piratically standing against his chest and for a moment he remembered when she once bashed her breast plate into his and he’d been dumb struck by the action at the time, like he very nearly was now. If she was mad, why was she so close? Aannnd then she was grabbing his face and kissing him.Guts wanted to both grab her and kiss her back friendly and pull her away to yell that she was nuts. He chose a middle ground and pressed back against her lips, snaking his arms around her waist but doing no more then that. He very nearly forgot that he had come to try and talk with her about Jerdeu’s offer because of her blasted soft lips and pulled away with a little annoyed grunt, standing at his full height but not removing his arms from around her waist. “So now do you understand why I want you to take up Jerdeu’s offer with me? I don’t even know why I had to say it, thought I made how I felt pretty damn plain.”
♞ The moment ended abruptly as Guts pulled back to question her, and her face immediately fell.
“Is that how you talk to a woman you just confessed your love to?” she barked, but her voice cracked. Rolling her eyes at his bluntness, she wiped her tear streaked face and looked up at him, her amber hues meeting his darker ones. Promptly avoiding his inquiry, she instead bit her lip as she thought.
Her hesitation was obvious. After everything they’d done to get Griffith back, to reunite the Band of the Hawk, and he wanted her to just walk away from it all. Everything she’d ever known revolved around this mercenary group, the people she’d grown to love as family. Did she even know how to live outside of this?
“Do you understand what you’re asking of me, Guts? I have to know before I can answer you.” ♘
