I remember being exposed to the fandom of Undertale before diving into the actual game. The development of these characters caught my attention and I was slowly coming out of the closet at the time. I watched so many gameplay videos that revieled so many secrets to this game, it fueled my plot hungry mind when diving back into the AUs. I loved every character's unique quirks and the randomized "fun code" that determined what the characters did on certain days. That, the amazing fan art, and the attention to detail in the original game itself lead me down a rabbit hole that falls further than Wonderland.
Before this, back when Google+ was a thing, I role played so much there and in messenger. Before my Undertale exposure, I was already invested in Devil May Cry, Taurtarus Rising, a DC & Marvel universe where all heros and villains died and their children took their place, and another futuristic apocalypse roleplay that only 1 person continued with me for years. Then when Undertale AUs started showing up, I was excited and dove right in.
Roleplay communities died. People didn't always show up and stories are left abandoned. We can try to revive a story but if people aren't willing, projects could be dropped just like that. I had some roleplays I wanted to share but many pieces of those stories were deleted when Google plus went down. I tried to keep in touch with those people but they had lives to live and eventually, I joined them. I stopped everything I wanted to do here, my blogs, my plans for youtube, everything.
Sometimes though, after years of silence, there is a chance that person might come back and inspirations sparks again. I will always remember the challenges my fellow role players gave me. Roleplaying was like a free write script where you are a Dungeon Master (from Dungeons and Dragons) fighting against other Dungeon Masters as if we were all players in the same campaign. The stories that unfold, the unexpected turns in the story, I loved that.
Maybe some day I'll come back too. I still wish to share the stories I have created with my anonymous online friends. The Undertale fandom inspired me to make my most original character of all time. Someday I wish to share her story, her development, and all the amazing monsters and people she met along the way.
