I think im just gonna post the sketches I don’t finish since I don’t finish my art ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Since I barely have time to draw I'm gonna post a sketch everyday for like twenty days to force myself to draw

I know it feels futile 9 times out of 10. There's no time to isolate and focus. Everyone needs something and none of it will wait. You tiptoe around and try not to disturb "real life". When you do sneak in some time for it, you feel like you stepped backwards and fallen behind, with each new attempt worse than the last. But don't let your own flawed perception fool you. You HAVE moved forward. The simple fact that you conquered time, discouragement and the demands of others to create even what appears to you as a mediocre sketch makes that day, that hour, those few minutes something light years ahead of those who'll never know the gut-heart mix of fear, exultation and melancholy as that last stroke is made and a tentative signature is thrown in.

Experiencing sketch #1: Making the balloon appear at 100 BPM
This was the first sketch we did, a pretty simple one. Our goal was that the balloon was going to appear when you make sounds at 100 BPM. Interactions that make sounds to match 100 BPM can be e.g. clapping, tapping, drumming etc. In this example I chose to go with clapping while listening to a metronome playing 100 BPM in my headphones.
After playing a metronome of 100 BPM as an input I realized that the computer will switch between registering it as 99 BPM and 100 BPM, so I made a change in the code - allowing the balloon to appear at both 99 and 100 BPM:
I realized that clapping in a rhythm is challenging skill that I believe you could get better at if you practice it. It was much easier to keep a steady beat with my clapping when I had headphones on with a metronome playing 100 BPM than not. It’s still a bit challenging, due to the approximate fact of where you have your hands. To produce the exact same sound with your hands when clapping is really hard, so the computer detects slight changes which may alter the BPM of the clapping.
I would apply these attributes to this experience: challenging, stepwise, mediated, targeted and apparent. I would also argue that it felt constant in its response, always showing the balloon at 99 and 100 BPM, but I experienced the interaction as approximate. The ability to keep a steady 100 BPM through clapping depends a lot of how far my hands go back after a clap and where my hands are in relation to each other. It’s very difficult to keep them precisely at the same distance before each clap due to human factors. Would I be to program a robot to clap a 100 BPM, it would probably do so without the approximate attribute. With these attributes I mean the descriptions that Lenz, Diefenbach and Hassenzahl (2013) provide.
I think it’s interesting that the sound you make with your hands changes depending on where on your hands you clap, if it’s only the fingers, only the palms or with the whole hand. This might be an area of exploration if we find the time and certainty that it will provide a deeper understanding of the material and topic. That could mean that the balloon might only appear at certain frequencies, or that it appears in a different area depending on where on your hand you clap.
I also believe this sketch opens up for many degrees of freedom in the interaction. You can clap, drum, tap, and you can also use different materials as a means to make the balloon appear. One idea I had was to use a ping-pong ball, a ping-pong racket with a piezo connected to it, and to make the balloon appear you had to keep a steady rhythm of 100 BPM with the ball on the racket. I believe that would be challenging, and that you would feel a sense of accomplishment if you manage to make the balloon appear - and keep it there!
