Boyhood Hero. In 1956 I was doing lot more snow skiing than water skiing. DATELINE: Cortina, Italy. I was 13 years old the morning Austrian skier Toni Sailor pushed thru the start gates in the final ski event of the Olympic Games, the Men's Downhill race. He arrived at the finish line 2 minutes 52.2 seconds later, 3.5 seconds faster than the closest competitor. He’d already won Slalom and Giant Slalom and with the Downhill win became the first skier to win all three events. Who would know but the Internet that my boyhood hero, the man considered one of the best Alpine skiers in history, also enjoyed water skiing. #waterskiing #snowskiracing #1956olympics #showskiing #skiingforall #squirrelhill #dorwinshill #loveblackandwhite #lifeonthewater #lifeontheslopes (at Kitzbühel, Austria) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-Cn8eCh7yt/?igshid=1e1dm2qur600o
