These are the fan-made posters of the future @disney movie called "Skull Cave". You may know the story of Treasure Island, but you don't know Jim Hawkins! This is the future story of Jim Hawkins III (Daniel Richard Huttleson) and his two longtime friends including Brock Finbarr (Kwesi Boakye) and Stephanie Hilbert (@brecbassinger) who's about to set on the quest to get the golden treasure from the cave of skull in the new island of treasure which was forty times larger than the first one and bring it back to America after they leave the United Kingdom for good since the pirates attacking there, but they won't be going there alone because the former pirate named Eugene "Long John" Silver (@prattprattpratt), his wife named Giselle Silver (@brycedhoward), the captain of the Hispaniola ship named Logan Smollett (@genosegers), his only daughter (also Jim's love interest) named Faye Smollett (Jeni Ross), his first mate of the ship named Mr. Jordan Arrow (Tituss Burgess), a filmmaker (also an optimistic producer) named Earl Sack and his assistant named Lanny "Mouse" Hobbit (@ryanochoa) will help them how to survive any dangers and against Julius "Blackbeard" Albans (Ian Somerhalder) and his pirate gangsters. Will they survive the newer Treasure Island and bring the golden treasure back to America as soon as possible? Let's all hope so. “Climbing (EP)” by Skullcave: EP Review

Skullcave have just released their second EP, Climbing, one month after teasing us with the single, “How To Tell You’re Wining”. Climbing has six tracks, recorded and mastered by the same dudes who brought you Tame Impala, Pond, Sleep, Yob, and more.

“We recorded it live this time, which was a huge shock to the system,” guitarist Jay Marriott and drummer/lead singer Liam Young told Perth local radio station RTR.fm.

They hope to go with that method again, stating that it “just seems like the purest way to get the song out”. And although you can tell that the production is expert, it doesn’t seem over-polished, maintaining the raw emotion they possess in live shows.

A fusion of doom metal and shoegaze, Skull Cave has quickly become a favourite of Perth’s music landscape and this is their second EP in only one year. Jay and Liam agreed, “it’s a little bit slower [than the self-titled EP]...it’s definitely much heavier.” I’m reminded of Ty Segall’s venture into the doom genre with his band Fuzz.

Climbing is dark, haunting, and groovy -perfect if your roots are in grunge or metal- and it gives you the same uneasy, devout sense you’d get if you stared too long into an outback night sky.

I especially enjoyed “Wishing You Went Missing”, which has an intro that grinds into a grand, ricocheting melody that somehow captures euphoria and total despair in one go. The drumming that kicks in at the two-minute mark is perfect.

“(Falling)” is a masterful piece of dreamy, ambient guitar, to calm you back down before plunging into the title track, “Climbing”, which is very, very doom metal, and probably recommended only for those who dabble in the likes of Electric Wizard, Black Sabbath, or even Ensiferum.

Overall, this is the kind of music that takes me back to every rugged camping trip I’ve gone on to the South West of Australia: places like Albany or Margaret River, where dark, rugged trees have their leaves ripped off by salty ocean winds and crashing grey waves year-round. If you’re American, you might like to imagine Big Sur during a storm.

The album launch was held two Fridays back at Jimmy’s Den in Northbridge, Western Australia. Skullcave played alongside other Perth bands FOAM, The Pissedcolas, Nerve Quakes, and Calsspiritualjourney.
