‘Infinite Vibes From the Lands of Finesse’ is an album showcasing just how versatile DMV artist Skuzii is. From his song ‘Red & Blue’ to the chorus of ‘Mallory is Awkward’ we experience a variety of emotions. From rolling up in the car and bobbing your head to hopping out and twerking in the drive-thru. This album is enjoyable for a soothing transition from Saturday morning to afternoon. Ending the album with ‘Prayers to Self’ was the strawberry on the CHEESECAKE. It left us with a thought provoking ending. Not bad. Not sad. Just in your thoughts.
In an interview with Skuzii he reveals he is a man of many talents. Our local rapper is not only just a smooth lyricist, but a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist as well. DC born and Newport News raised, he is of Black, French and West Indian descent. When asked what he wanted to bring to music he responded:
“I would like to establish a definitive level and mixture of musicality and culture within my music, with hopes to begin new styles and sub genres within hiphop. Even though I pride myself in being a lyricist and story teller I like to create grooves and make people dance and would like my music to be a crossroads between thought provoking and groovy as fuck.”
A message from Skuzii to the youth is:
“you don't need to drown yourself in drugs to be happy or have a good time.”
Apart from music, and previous desires to be a Marine Biologist, Skuzii also had this to say about his plans for the future:
“Financial advising is something big I want to get into as well, my day job is a banker and I see a lot of young people with bad financial practices, and you can't blame anybody really some things we aren't even aware to research to educate ourselves. I would like to bring that knowledge to the youth as well as teaching them about business and the many ways you can develop yourself as a member of your community without depending or relying on others.”
In 5 years expect to become familiar with the name Skuzii. Hopefully I’ll get to meet his pet Octopus or Chameleon and try some of the bourgeoise delicious food he spoke of.
