THE SIXFOUR KART WORLD TOUR MEGAPOST
Oddie here, bringing you a pretty big post about Sixfour Kart: World Tour, a massive total modification of Dr. Robotnik’s Ring Racers with new tracks, characters, and a lot more under the hood changes. If you have already played Ring Racers most of this will be stuff you know.
= General Changes =
= Items =
First off, every single item in Ring Racers has been reskinned to fit the general aesthetic of SKWT. The list is below:
Rings - Coins
Orbinaut - Squirtle Shell
Jawz - Chewtle Shell
SPB - Turtonator Shell
Banana - Nanab Berry
Sneaker - Oran Berry
Rocket Sneaker - X-Speed
Super Ring - Stack ‘o Coins
Pogo Spring - Air Balloon
Hyudoro - Haunter
Eggmark - Fake Item Box
Ballhog - Bullet Seed
Proximity Mine - Blast Seed
Land Mine - Blast Trap
Drop Target - Bumper
Gardentop - Spinning Top
Flame Shield - Flame Charge
Bubble Shield - Bubble
Thunder Shield - Zenith Shield
Gachabom - Gyro Orb
Invincibility - Awakening Emera
Grow - Wishing Star
Shrink - Minimize Ray
Additionally, SKWT contains three items not seen in Ring Racers. These include...
= TORKOAL SHELL =
Meet the volatile cousin of the Squirtle Shell, the Torkoal Shell! This item which is based on the Black Shell from the Mario Kart Arcade games is a very hard but very rewarding item to use. When used, it functions similarly to a Squirtle Shell, though instead of causing normal damage, it explodes on contact!
= CRACKED WISHING STAR =
A returning item from the original Sixfour Kart that was axed for Ring Racers, the Cracked Wishing Star makes its return as a powerful last resort item! Upon usage, all drivers in front of the user will be stunned, shrunk, and prone to being wiped out when rammed into! It appears extremely rarely in the roulette, only when you’re very far behind.
= ICE SHARDS =
Ice Shards are used similarly to Blast Traps, they pop right out of your kart and land on the floor, and cannot be thrown forward. When someone runs over it, they freeze and start sliding along the course with zero control! In order to regain control, you have to mash the drift button to break free.
= Physics =
Not too much to see here, aside from adjustments to how slopes and water work. Slopes are much easier to climb now, and turning underwater feels a lot more loose.
= Characters =
SKWT’s character list is giant. So much so, that we can’t disclose how many characters are in the game yet. However, we do have tons of new and returning characters from the original Sixfour Kart, so be on the look out for that!
Also, shields will now properly scale with your character’s size. Previously, it would look awkward with how tiny a shield would look on a large character, so this change should hopefully bring some visual consistency!
= Race Mode =
SKWT contains three main race difficulties, and two unlockable ones.
Breezy - 50cc racing. Kick back and enjoy the sights!
Normal - Fast paced fun for everyone at 100cc. Are you up to it?
Brutal - Kick things up to 150cc with harder CPUs!
Nightmare (UNLOCK) - CPUs are at their best and will do anything to win!
Godhand (UNLOCK) - 200cc. This isn’t even remotely fair.
Grand Prix races have been significantly altered for Normal mode. CPU players will start to get better midway through the GP, keeping things challenging but still fair for newcomers. Your rival will also have the same item odds as you on Normal, but from Brutal onward, they’ll put up a fight!
= Closing Words =
Before I close off this post, I would like to showcase a few maps.
= Sixfour Raceway =
= Starlight Bridge =
= Sapphire Lake =
That’s about all I have for now, I will continue to showcase more gifs and screenshots as time goes on! Thanks for reading this, this is Oddie, out.
