Whenever you have a female character who disagrees with or gets in the way of the male protagonist, she receives an irrational amount of fan hate.  Even if the male protagonist is wrong, and multiple characters say he’s wrong, certain male or male-sympathetic fans will purposefully misinterpret the scene and characters to rationalize this hatred.  They keep going back to the disagreement of the male hero.

The only non-divisive female characters are those who satisfy the male fantasy, by either being sexualized, taking down the enemies of the male hero, or both.

Certain characters that come in mind:

Holdo from the Last Jedi - Fans are so annoyed by her disagreement with Poe that they can’t even accept her noble sacrifice for what it was.

Sansa Stark from Game of Thrones - Fans still can’t get over that she didn’t tell Jon Snow about the Knights of the Vale.  There are some that still hold her responsible for her actions when she was a child being held captive.

Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones - who went from hated by the fandom to loved again when she saved then slept with Jon Snow

Skyler White from Breaking Bad - Sure she had faults but her husband was a drug dealer and murderer.
