  Shadow reached out just too late to grab Night’s arm, wincing as the girl crashed through the second story floor of the group’s home and landed with a Thud outside. Cautiously peering out, he looked down to see the kitsune groaning on the ground only a few centimeters away from Rouge and Sky.

  “Night, are you okay?!” the blue hedgehog gasped.

  “ᗯᕼO ᑭᑌᔕᕼᕮᗪ YOᑌ?” Rouge asked with a smirk.

  “Ow… No one… Just… slipped…”

  The sable vixen sat up slowly, hissing in pain as bruised muscles were forced to move. Shadow jumped down from the new hole in the window, helping pick the girl up and set her on her feet before both started back up the stairs.

Ocean blue eyes looked around the new area she had wandered into, taking in the sights. Rio wasn’t quite sure where anything was, and so she thought it appropriate to ask.

“Excuse me....could you tell me where I am?” She asked the next closest person. “I didn’t see a sign anywhere...”

  The striped hedgehog was slammed in the back of the head with snow, making him spin around with a snarl. If it was Rouge he swore to God –

  His eyes were instead met with the five kids stopped deadly still, Sky with her hand over her mouth and Night’s tails bristling in anxiety. The boys had frozen in their tracks, one halfway through the throwing motion of another snowball to his brother. All of them were staring at him, almost fearful of what he would do.

  Narrowing his eyes a bit, the hedgehog leaned down… and smirked, gathering a small chunk of snow himself before pelting it at the closest brother. He yelled in surprise before it hit the side of his head, causing the other two to laugh. All three boys quickly gathered up snowballs themselves and started trying to hit Shadow, the soldier jumping ducking and dodging out of the way before the girls ambushed the trio from behind.

  Let the kids be kids.  Who knew how soon it would be before they couldn’t anymore.
