Every now and then I remember that post that was like ‘white privilege is never having to spell your name’. Meanwhile my housemate, who works in the same store as me, was told by one of our managers, after working there for a few months, that, if he hadn’t been recommended by me, they probably wouldn’t have called him for an interview, because they were too embarassed when they couldn’t figure out how to pronounce his name.
