an introduction to Sleepy's wips (this time it's for real)
welcome. there's a lot here, have fun.
current total:
14 wips
46 ideas
9 pieces of flash fiction
10 extra things
(I also have a number of archived works, which are mostly dead)
Category: WIPs
(this category contains content, from a few paragraphs to several thousand words. yeah. I've got range)
Youth (#wip: youth story) est. 2019
a young adult novel about ten teenagers who have feelings and sometimes talk about them. set in Paris, 2018, over the course of one school year. all ten POVs, and the story is non-linear. it's a combination of the real and surreal, as time feels foggy and all the kids have superpowers. they're not important.
status: draft 0 complete. not making any progress on draft 1
Dirt in the Doing (#wip: city story) est. 2022
a new adult novel about attempting to deal with emotional trauma via physical, often violent means. Jet, our POV, will punch anyone who tries to hurt the people he's reluctant to admit he cares about. this particular story has all of my favorite tropes because I'm writing it so I can read it. it's realistic fiction but I call it ci-fi (city fiction).
status: I called it quits on draft 0. draft 1 has a single scene
Spirits and Summoners (#wip: summon story) est. 2021
a new adult fantasy novel about summoners dealing with spirits, bounties, secrets, and some guy who is spirit-possessing dead dragons. Zan, our POV, is not the main character, and he knows it. this wip is heavily inspired by video games and contains some tributes to their unique ways of storytelling.
status: not trying very hard to either write draft 0 or worldbuild
House of Favors (#wip: guild story) est. 2021
a new adult fantasy novel? about the three guild houses and their apprentices. there isn't really a plot yet. I have two POVs with more planned, and an immortal sorceress with no name.
status: best I've got is that one scene and my pfp
Mercenary Story (#wip: mercenary story) est. 2018
an adult? fantasy novel about mercenaries, a princess, shenanigans and questing. and trauma. can't forget the trauma. multiple POVs with a lot to figure out.
status: I have a few thousand words but they're no longer canon
Spider Silk (#wip: magick story) est. 2020
a novella about a small town whose history is being rewritten by someone trying to hoard all the magick, and the few people somewhat unaffected by this who are trying to stop him.
status: I occasionally worldbuild and make cameos for my friends
The Search for Petrichor (#wip: rain story) est. 2016
a new adult duology about magic, family, control, trust, and powers that everyone forgot about. seven POVs with a vaguely fairytale/folktale retelling vibe. in the same world as Guild Story.
status: unknown (truly, I do not know)
A City Asleep (#wip: apocalypse story) est. 2017
a short story? about two boys roaming a city after the world falls apart. there is not plot but there are VIBES.
status: two whole scenes! and some thoughts
The Summer Gallery (#wip: summer story) est. 2022
a short story about a gallery Jake works at for the summer that may or may not actually exist.
status: it has a great opening line, which is something
The Train Between Us (#wip: train story) est. 2023
a novella about two strangers meet on the train to work and discuss their careers, emotions, and personal struggles while unaware that they're in a pocket dimension for the duration of the ride each day. They gradually help and comfort each other until the pocket dimension expires.
status: in the aether, babes
The Phantom Thieves (#wip: thief story) est. 2023
about a group of thieves trying to steal a bridge. there are pocket portals and banter.
status: no bridges are being stolen in the making of this wip
Beasts of the Garden (#wip: castle story) est. 2022
a (so far) only dialogue story about a rosebush thief who has to work in an enchanted haunted castle for three months and survive. part of a larger universe of fairytale retellings. this collective currently has no name.
status: every so often I remember this exists and folks really liked it
Sharp Knives, Cold Eyes (#wip: necromancy story) est. 2024
a young necromancer gets caught up in a conspiracy between rival gangs and also the death guild, and her companion fetch-quester is along for for the ride
status: I have picrews for the main four characters?
A Moon's Reflection (#wip: wuxia story) est. 2023
a young woman from a family of assassins marries an noble young lord who is aiming to stop said family from helping the third prince rebel against his father. Neither side of the new couple feels they can afford to trust each other but start to develop protective affection anyway.
status: I've written a scene. and also I scheme.

Category: Ideas with like maybe a section in scrivener
Forged Fates - fairytale story about being named after whatever the stars or sages or something have declared your fate to be. the protagonist is Jack of All Trades and he's not having fun.
Making of a Miracle - Chaos and Inevitability are entities that are tired of the universe dying so fast when they go up against each other so they decide to create a creature who can balance them out. it's like two supervillains doing arts and crafts and the poor plucky creations having to deal with them.
Library of the Mind - psychological dark academia about exploring too deeply into mind magic. guarding yourself against being manipulated in good, but you can end up tearing yourself apart instead of building yourself up stronger.
The Recollection - a series of shorts about the Recollection, an archive for memories people don't want anymore. memory erasure angers the sage of memory, so instead of wiping the slate clean, unwanted memories are stored in a vault and taken care of by the archivists, childlike beings who encounter the best and worst of humanity while never remembering anything they archive past a day.
The Hat Trick Man - it's a dark fairytale, and it might even be horror, and I don't even like that stuff.
Death by Midnight - fairytale where the times of day have personifications and they're a bunch of siblings and midnight (for reasons) is killing the siblings - not permanently, but it does confuse humans when afternoon suddenly disappears from the day for a week - and the other times of day have to team up to stop midnight.
Killing Time - similarly, time's personification has been split into several pieces and the unlucky protagonists have to time loop travel to kill the fast times and hope they're never taking out the piece that holds their reality.
The War of the Words - about godling writers who control the fate of the world and they can't stop writing or the world dies, but also they can't agree on how the story goes, so it doesn't make sense
The Planet Farm Beyond Oblivion - prequel to Space Story about Oblivion, where planets are homegrown from fallen stars and shipped off to spots in the universe but disaster strikes in the form of one of the Growers planting seeds with toxic elements.
Only the Night Knows - fairytale about how only the Night remembers how to wake the sun, and the newest prince and his best friends travel through Night's tower to reach the end of night and the birth of a new day.
Uncommon Ailments - a shop that encounters every ailment from secondhand depression to displaced souls.
A Quiet Cold - a small town slowly freezes while people don't really notice until it's too late.
Blood of Gold, Blood of Silver, Blood of Bronze - blood types are categorized by the kind of magic one wields. it's a well-known fact that anyone can have strong and unique magic, and that the system for tracking it is highly biased and false, but most of the people with gold blood are rich, so society skews in their favor anyway. a new blood type comes on the scene, and others follow after that: iron, copper, steel, etc.. with every new set of powers, the hold the gold bloods have on society weakens. and then one blood type goes rogue, and the world might have to crumble before a new one can be built.
The Cure for Depression and Other Mythical Creatures - mini comics about mental health
August Blue - Conrad and Elsie in the summer by the lake, a place no one else knows or can find. Little does Conrad know that he drowned while looking for Elsie, but as he discovers it, there might be a way to come back. But can Elsie come back, too?
Unearthly Appetites - a guy gets cursed to become a demon and spends the rest of his humanity trying to appreciate it better while encountering strange beings
The Cure for Insomnia - a guy gets turned immortal (or does he) and gets depressed about not needing things like sleep and food as much and has to be rescued from depression by some found friends
The Pennyman - a boy tries to collect 1000 pennies in order for the pennyman to grant him a wish, but the pennyman is not what he thinks.
Blood Orange - something about magical assassins in the summer trying to achieve the same goal and also kill each other a little bit. is it romantic? I really couldn't tell you.
Twelve Shadows - a Peter Pan retelling where Peter is replaced with his own shadow which is currently haunting his lost boys while he's unsure of how to get himself out of a sticky bargain with an old, old creature. Meanwhile the boys are all losing their shadows and their selves and Peter can't afford to be a lost boy anymore. More than their shadows are at stake.
The Silence Machine - a deaf guy creates a machine to generate silence in order to undo the hypnosis placed on his town caused by constant music.
The Decaying of Shelara Da'Esti - a summon story prequel about our favorite twice possessed skeleton
Romeo & His Juliets - Juliet returns to Romeo every time she fails to prevent his death.
Maisy Beckett & the Watermelon Boys - an only child meets a family of six boys who recruit her for a job at their family's farmstead during the summer.
Hit-the-Road Jack - a young man cursed with monster brand is hired to kill said monsters and then promptly run out of town so as not to infect anyone (even though curses can't be passed on).
The Blessed Beautiful - a school for young oracles where only the girls begin disappearing just as a treaty is being signed with a more powerful empire.
The Incidentalists - an amateur detective relies on a set of faithful companions to prompt strokes of genius with their incidental remarks.
Wolf-Touched - it's about cowboys who some can sort of talk to wolves and a great family rivalry that gets people killed. About belonging and stuff.
A Bridge Between Stars - an assassin's left hand and a lord's right hand start out as enjoyable enemies and end up as something entirely different. (companion to A Moon's Reflection)
Juniper and the Evermere - a young girl opens a door to a world that crowns her queen and it seems to be all she ever wanted until things start to go wrong and the faeries turn feral.
Ravensbane - in a world where all true magicians gain a raven familiar, a youth pursued by a family curse begins an unlikely partnership with a raven who is not like the others.
Sweet, Bitter, Bitter, Sweet - an apothecary is tangled up in the lives of an old rich family after being hired to attempt to cure the matriarch. As she gets closer to the family, she discovers one terrible secret after the other until she had to decide between a cure and integration or a poison to end it all.
Rowena and the Troublesome Princes - Enchanted Forest Chronicles vibes of a princess doing some princess-ing and also getting up to mischief (there are several follow up stories to this one.)
The You I Lose - a girl stumbles through a portal and makes a friend only to lose the memory of her when she returns through it.
Home is Where the Heart Is - thirteen year-olds take part in the annual quest to find and kill the Winterbeast in order to free the spirit of Spring that's been trapped inside its heart all winter long.
A Matter of Time - in a world with advanced science magic, called matter type 2, of course somebody is doing the thing with where time is concerned. what the somebody did a magic and scienced time to be radioactive? what then?
To Queen or Not to Queen - the current queen holds a competition to determine the heir to the throne and things keep going wrong.
Irregular Cartographies - in a land with shifting mountains and forests that walk, map making is both wickedly difficult and a highly prized skill.
Thornsblood - a noblewoman marries her family's enemy as a public show of truce while plots and assassination attempts continue behind the scenes. It grows harder to know how to choose between loyalties.
Larkspur and Oriole - two cousins search for a series of heirlooms that their grandparents hid in their old manor house.
Street Magic - ordinary jobs are aided by magic, a skill long known but only recently destimatized.
The Things the Trees Could Tell - a multi-generational saga of growing up in a progressively less wild land.
A War of Heart and Bones - another rival families drama where the end of the world is a series of events with very little significance.
The City Below, (The River Above), (The Road Between) - a prosperous city starts to crumble under the weight of its lies which sends our protagonist descending to The Below where she's always been told there's nothing, but instead she finds a city the mirror of her own, and maybe some truths about the world she thinks she knows.
The Mourners - every person deserves to be mourned, and in fact it is their legal right. If someone has no one to mourn them, professional mourners are contracted. Following the death of a contentious man, the mourners who follow through with the after death rituals uncover a conspiracy.
Scar and Scorn - vaguely a pride and prejudice retelling, set during a magical cold war, complete with self-inflicted misery and misplaced disdain, and secret truths neither side was prepared for.
Of Mortals and Mountains - a group of pilgrims ascend a mountain in the hopes of finding the solution to a curse covering the whole kingdom.
Category: is it even really real? well I know some stuff about it
romance story - a retelling/crossover of Les Mis and Sense and Sensibility (plot)
Snow Fangs and the Poisoned Cinderella - shapeshifters + curses, merging a few fairytales and also there's no romance (plot)
Moss-rose and the Sleeping Swan - retelling mashup of snow white and rose red and sleeping beauty (plot)
Marriage of convenience - Hadley Jamison is going to have to marry his childhood friend and nemesis, Amelia Kinsey. There's an inheritance, a dowry, a debt, and a lot of family history riding on it (plot)
Pirate Story - a young women gets lowkey adopted by some pirates and there's angst (lore)
Automaton Story - a guy decides to fuse his soul with an automaton as his legacy even though it's a lost art.
another city story - a detective wildly out of his depth in a city split into two parts that are referred to by the same names by the two social classes so you gotta check for context every time you hear what street a murder took place on. "rotten row" yeah okay but like the one with the rotten food in the gutters or the one with the rotten rich people. context.
Thiefling-verse - I will write this as Tortall fanfic and it will promptly become my own thing in two seconds because it always does but anyway I always wanted a story from a Rogue's pov so this would be it.
Oops I'm still alive - what if you had to plead your case to the death gods as to why you shouldn't be sacrificed for their purposes and the apprentice that performs the ritual messes up and now you get a second chance at life and you're protected from harm but you have no goals or sense of self? yeah doesn't sound like fun to me either
The Emporium chronicles - fantasy retail
Zombies eat book (mom gave me this idea but I don't know anything else yet)
Category: Fanfic
here is a link to the existing masterpost about fanfics because I am not going to retype or migrate all of that, thank you.
I am so tired.
Sooo, I remembered that the Resident Evil Ler tag existed and noticed that there isn't nearly enough lee!Donna, and well...
I'm deciding to take it into my own hands, so here's a wip of Bela wrecking our poor dollmaker's shit
Hopefully I'll be able to get this done in the next day or two
(also this was kinda inspired by @squeaky-n-blushy 's fic "can I tickle you?", it's really adorable and I highly recommend it)
rating stories on their amount of plot tag
what a mouthful name. I'm gonna go through my wips and rate how much plot is in each of them.
Youth Story - 1 this baby has no plot to speak of other than the development of characters over the course of a year.
Summon Story - 6 this baby has a plot but the characters weave in an out of it like the player character in a video game stopping the main quest to do other things. the plot will wait for them to get back to it.
City Story - 5 this baby has a plot but it's explored mostly through character mirroring, introspection, and conversation, with the occasionally bit of action in between. the characters are interacting with the plot but casually, and the emotions are the main focus.
Guild Story - 6 this baby probably has a plot, probably has several, but they're not overarching and more episodic in nature. characters take turns being the protagonist for this or that plot.
Mercenary Story - 8 the plot is why the story is happening and the characters are very much interacting with it. it's still a character-driven story - Mirai is literally making the plot happen - but once it starts going it's going, and the characters need to keep up with it.
Rain Story - 9 this baby has so much plot that it overwhelmed me and I'm not working on it anymore. each character has a different stake in the plot and a different motivation to be involved in the story. it's hard to write this with my usual method but I'll work up to it eventually. I hope.
Magick Story - 7 the plot is why the characters are involved with each other and why there are any stakes. and then there are the shenanigans.
Anxiety Story - 3 this baby has characters and mental illnesses and healing. I guess you can call it plot.
Apocalypse Story - 2 this baby might have a through line someday, but right now it's vibes.
Hunter Story - 7 this baby is a folktale plot with a lot of prose. at least it would be if I had written any of it. it's more plot than character, which never happens with me.
Ghost Story - 4 this baby has a plot and it's mostly connected shenanigans. and mostly unwritten, shocking.
(yes, I have more wips than these, but oh well)

Anyways, I figured I'd update y'all on what I've been cooking up (click "read more" to view)
Cw, gore, child abuse (the drawing does not show the act itself, just the aftermath, but it still may be highly upsetting/triggering to viewers that have either experienced abuse, are close to someone who has been through it, or have kids of your own, so please be careful) disturbing/grotesque imagery, (semi) realistic depictions of severe injuries, and mild trypophobia
If you are sensitive to any of these topics or are struggling mentally (if this is the case I hope you are taking care of yourself and are getting the help you need) please continue scrolling, my art is not worth you causing harm to yourself
And just so you don't think I'm a complete and utter psychopath
I do not support the actions depicted in my work, everything in my stories is completely fictional and should never be acted upon in real life (any potential relations to real life cases are completely unintentional)
If you've been thinking about committing such actions PLEASE SEEK HELP IMMEDIATELY, IT'S NOT WORTH IT
Thank you
