your first night will be spent in our foyer
keep your eyes open
you must meet the agent
remember that yellow spiral below her cheekbone
we will gaze upon your form with pursed lips
she will whisk you away
to speak only in riddles
we won’t know what she says to you
we know you want to leave, but won't
we just wait and watch
behind the safety of our closed doors
as you wander empty corridors
listen for whispered clues
look for crude drawings on the wall
solve her puzzles
and she would be so kind
to unlock another door
a new room
exclusively for you
until we find you
it is
a temporary prize
a clear exit from the foyer
a subtle entrance into the hole

(Editor's note: This was found taped to the window of of our office door last Tuesday. Seems to be connected to issue 24. As for what it is...a list of instructions? Expectations? A threat? Why now? This does not sit well with me...)
SLIDE HOUSE
You’ve been here before.
Yes, I remember the orange silk pants you always wear.
We love what you’ve brought us.
Another year trapped in a slide.
Another soul resides within a picture.
Open the doorway.
Release the tension in your jaw.
You’ll see what I mean.
There are rooms upon rooms.
There is a game that demands your attention.
Because, they never stop playing.
You never stopped playing.
It is why we all wear costumes.
Top hats, waistcoats, and floor length gowns.
Don’t forget your handcrafted mask.
Reduced to a character for our safety and protection.
We stroll the aisles of an empty classroom.
Perhaps we were grown in there.
The aquarium tank is propped up by the window.
Just where it’s always been, covered in sickly green algae.
No one has thought to clean it.
We soak our greasepainted bodies in the hole.
A cyllindrical hot tub with a mile high ceiling.
The incandescent lights rain down.
And illuminate the clues scrawled in blood.
Hey, wait a minute.
I think I just solved a sudoku puzzle.
Time to report back to the agent of mind.
The one with a yellow spiral below the cheekbone.
She waits for me in the middle of our living room.
An open field under a stormy sky.
She is wearing a gas mask.
Would this be my key to opening another room?
Be it a retro laundro-mat or an brutalist office staircase.
Or an airport hallway where the air is cold and the lights flicker.
Don’t you remember how this works?
Solve a puzzle and if you are worth it…
She opens a door in the house for you.

There are rooms I’ve earned that no one else has yet.

There are no keys to this car.
I have nowhere to go.
So it doesn’t matter.
But it’s been years.

Cool Homes: Slide House - Japan | Architecture
Japanese Studio LEVEL Architects has designed an unusual three-story family house quipped with a slide that connects all three floors. This fun house is wrapped with staircases and a corridor on one side, and the slide on the other side, which together form a circular route around the central area of the house.
The 1,762 square-foot Nakameguro home is located in Meguro-ku, one of the municipalities of Tokyo, Japan.
