Slow Day (short story)
Whoops I posted part 1 here but forgot to follow up with the rest so here’s the whole thing
Marissa drummed her pudgy red fingers on the countertop. She glanced at the display box of blind-packed Disney Vinyl figures next to her. Despite the fact that she already had every figure form that particular series in her collection already, the thought entered her mind to tear into one just to see which one it contained. She then tried to rationalize it by saying it could be a rare figure, and if that was the case then she could sell it for another few dollars more. Then again, if it was a common one it would only sell for about half of the normal price.
The BBW red panda let out a sigh and dropped her head onto the countertop. For awhile she just stared at the wooden table, studying the swirls of the wood grain as though there would be an exam on the patterns. Without even looking she reached under the counter and felt around for a small box. Out of it she pulled a single-wrapped snack cake, which she quickly freed from its plastic confines before dooming it to the much more terrible fate of being trapped in her mouth.
Someone else leaned up against the counter. Since she hadn’t heard anybody enter the store so she knew who it had to be.
“Well, I just mopped the entirety of the store for the fourth time today,” Lewis stated, folding his arms on the counter and resting his chin on them. “We probably have the cleanest floorboards in the entire city by now.”
“Great. I’ll alert the city records company,” Marissa deadpanned, chewing the mini cake.
Lewis let out a long, slow breath. “Anything else I can do?”
The fat red panda swallowed. “Did you organize all of the Funko Pop figures?”
“Same character in rows, characters from the same franchises next to eachother,” the boy bear reported. “We might need to lower the price on the Age of Ultron Unmasked Captain America figures. I know they’re exclusives but we still have eleven of them left.”
“Well, we only got them a few weeks ago.”
“Yeah, but when we did we got twelve of them.”
“Oh.” Marissa sighed and she popped another snack caked in her mouth. “Then mark them down a few dollars.”
Lewis bolted up. “Finally, something to do!”
Two minutes later…
“And now I’m bored again.”
Marissa swallowed and let out a sharp breath that could almost be considered a chuckle.
“Man, not having any customers is no fun without internet,” Lewis complained.
“Tell me about it.” Marissa sat up. “But what are you complaining about? You’re not allowed to watch Netflix while you work.”
“No, but I DO listen to music online,” he retorted. “Doing nothing is no fun, but it’s even less fun without music and Pandora doesn’t work without an Internet connection. The only other option would be…”
The two looked towards an AM/FM radio sitting on the far end of the counter. Simultaneously, they shuddered.
“No, no. We’re not that desperate,” Lewis said, holding his hands up.
“Well maybe we could listen to the weather and get an idea about when this snowstorm is going to pass,” Marissa suggested, tearing into yet another snack cake.
Lewis laughed. “Given how they predicted this blizzard was just going to be a ‘light snowfall’ I don’t feel inclined to listen to them further.”
The red panda nodded. “Fair enough. The report would probably just be them repeatedly saying people shouldn’t go outside.”
“And that events are cancelled and places are closing,” Lewis added. His ears then perked up. “Hey, that’s a great idea! We should close up early!”
“Lewis, it’s three-thirty. We don’t close until eight.”
“C’mon, Issa, I know you’re dedicated to this place but it’s a comic shop,” Lewis pointed out. “Not exactly an essential thing that people are going to trek through two and a half feet of ice and snow to get to.”
“Fair point, but do you really want to go home in that ice and snow?” Marissa countered.
Lewis tilted his head. “Go home? That’s what you thought I wanted to do? Go out of my way to leave you here without internet all by yourself?” He drew back and put his hands to his chest in mock pain. “That hurts. Like, right here.”
“Oh!” Marissa sat up, swallowing the mushed remains of the cake. “Well, I guess we can close early, just this once.”
“Heck yeah!” Lewis punched the air. “I’ll go hang this on the door,” he stated as he pulled a folded piece of paper out of his pocket. He flattened it out to reveal that ‘Closed due to weather’ was written on it in black marker.
“You… already made a sign?”
Lewis smirked. “I like to come into an argument prepared.” He reached across the counter, his arm brushing against Marissa’s thick, squishy bicep as he retrieved a tape dispenser. Quickly he ran the short distance to the door and taped the paper onto a spot in the window where the snow hadn’t covered it. He then pulled a key out of his pocket and locked the front doors. “Alright, let the fun times commence!”
Marissa chuckled as she struggled to lift her bulbous rump off of her chair. After a few attempts she succeeded before turning around and opening an abnormally wide door. Lewis flicked off a few light switches, sending the store into darkness, lit only by the small amount of light that came in through the windows. He wasted no time slipping by Marissa through the doorway. She followed, shutting the door behind her.
Lewis and Marissa made the short trek through a hallway before coming to Marissa’s living room. She had an impressive setup consisting of large surround sound speakers mounted around the room, a large, plush couch, and a massive TV stand that housed over a dozen different video game consoles.
Marissa plopped down on the couch, her large rump splaying out on the cushions. She reached next to the couch where a wooden box was stationed- opening the top revealed it to be full of every kind of snack food one could think of. Snack cakes, cookies, chocolate bars, assorted candy, chips; it was all there.
Taking out a bag of cookies, she wasted no time in ripping it open and digging in. “So, gaming session or movie marathon?”
Lewis sat down next to her, his own hip rubbing against hers. “Uh… let’s go with a movie marathon of… Pirates of the Caribbean?”
Marissa shrugged. “Works for me!”
The large red panda reached into a side pocket of the wooden container and pulled out a remote. With it she turned on the TV and went to Netflix, locating the first movie. She had them all on DVD, but hey, why get up and mess with that if you don’t have to?
Several hours later… Lewis yawned and stretched as the end credits to Curse of the Black Pearl began to roll. “You know, as enjoyable as the sequel are, I think we should find a different series to watch now. Since, you know, watching the not so great ones right after the spectacular ones would be kind of boring.”
Marissa nodded and exited the movie, returning them to Netflix’s main menu.
The sudden silence made them aware of the roaring win outside.
“Wow, looks like it’s really picking up,” Marissa stated, looking out a window.
“Oh, no! The storm is getting worse! I may not make it home safely! I might have to stay the night! What a tragedy!” Lewis exclaimed, throwing his arms in the air.
“Do you mean that in a sarcastic ‘act like it’s a problem but it really isn’t’ way or a ‘this could be a legitimate problem’ way?”
“A bit of both. The ‘staying here being a problem’ was sarcasm, but I was serious about the storm getting worse. Trying to get home at this point will only lead to be becoming a bear-cicle.”
The fat red panda laughed. “We wouldn’t want that, would we?” She turned to the wooden container and frowned. “Darn, looks like I need to restock.”
Lewis’ ears perked up. “You, uh, need any help?”
“That would be much appreciated, thank you,” Marissa nodded as she heaved herself off of the couch and made her way to an oversized pantry. Lewis followed, his eyes widening as she opened the door.
Inside the pantry was the motherload of non-refrigerated junk food. It looked as though she had just opened a wormhole to a supermarket shelf. Just like how she had Lewis arrange the Funko Pop figures, the food was arranged in rows of the same item, with similar items placed next to eachother. She started taking one of each of the food items and piling them up in her plump arms until they were full. “Okay, that’s all I can carry.” Lewis nodded and began taking one of each of the items that Marissa hadn’t picked up until his arms were also filled to capacity.
“That should be good for now,” she said, bumping the pantry door shut with her bulbous hip. They two made their way back to the couch, careful not to drop any of the treats they had gathered. “Just put them on the table for now. I’ll sort them out.”
Lewis nodded, setting the treats down on the coffee table in front of the couch while being careful not to let any of them fall over the edge. He peered into the wooden box to see that nearly all of the goodies had been emptied out of it despite it having been full when they had started the movie a mere two and a half hours ago.
As Marissa deposited her own armful of food onto the table and they sat down, a thought occurred to Lewis.
“Hey, Marissa? How much can you eat?”
The portly panda stopped halfway through bringing a cookie to her mouth- which was a rare sight. “What?”
“Well, you eat a lot of food, I just wondered how much you could eat at a time.” Lewis shrugged. “I don’t know, just a thought.”
Marissa blinked slowly as she finished brining the cookie to her mouth. “I… haven’t tallied it up. It’s hard to eat and count I guess.”
The bear nodded as another thought occurred to him. “Hey, I could count for you?”
Marissa’s cookie-chewing slowed. “You’re really wondering about this, aren’t you?”
“I wonder a lot of things.”
“And you really want to count?”
“Sure.”
The fat female furry looked back and forth between her friend and the pile of junk food in a heap on the table, then back to Lewis. “The heck with it, now I’m curious, too. I’ll start eating, you count up the stuff that I’ve already eaten.” She pointed to a trashcan behind the couch that was filled with collapsed boxes of what she had eaten during the movie.
The brown bear beamed as his face flushed slightly red. “I’ll get my clipboard.”
----
Everyone who knew Marissa would describe her as being a kind person and a great conversationalist with a vast array of knowledge on a variety of subjects and science fiction brands. (They also might call her ‘really freaking fat’ and ‘someone who should go on a diet’ but really that’s none of their flipping business.) Would most people would not call her, however, was ‘feral’.
If they were witnessing the same sight as Lewis, though, they might be tempted to change their mind on that.
Marissa was absolutely ripping into all of the treats, shredding the plastic packaging away like she was a predator tearing the skin off of its prey to get at the luscious insides. The treats freedom from their plastic wrapping would be short lived, however, as they were immediately sent into her maw and mashed to bits, then cast down her gullet and into her rapidly- filling stomach.
Lewis watched, absolutely transfixed and unable to focus on anything else other than counting how much food Marissa tore into. Even then he was only able to count to fuel his fascination with her bulbous form, which was growing just as rapidly as her midsection.
The red panda paused for a moment to catch her breath. A loud belch escaped from her lips. “Oh, eshcush me,” she said, her cheeks still full of half-crushed cookies and snack cakes. “Oh jeesh, my mouf ish really dry.”
Suddenly snapping to attention as though a spell on him had been broken, Lewis spoke. “I’ll go to the fridge and find you something!” He dashed off with speed that would have made the Flash jealous (and would have caught the attention of Flash’s enemy Zoom). He was suddenly in the kitchen in front of the fridge, which he wasted no time in pulling open and shuffling through. “How about… milk?”
“Nah, don’t want to use it up all at once,” Marissa replied after sending some of the food from her mouth into her gut.
Lewis continued to sift through the very large refrigerator. He pulled out a liter of soda. “Wow, you still have these soda bottles?”
“They’re decaffeinated,” Marissa replied. “Completely useless for getting any energy… but they’d be perfect for this!”
“Say no more!” Lewis stated as he closed the fridge door, four liters of soda already in his arms. With the same superhero speed as earlier he was back in the living room. “Mountain Dew, Pepsi, Coke, or another Mountain Dew?”
“Coke is good for now,” the fat red panda replied.
Lewis gave her the bottle, which she promptly drank a fourth of, to his mild surprise. After she was done she sighed in satisfaction, before letting out another belch, this one much louder than the last.
“Excuse me,” she said with a chuckle. “I guess that’s going to be happening a lot now, isn’t it?”
“If you keep chugging it like that then yeah,” Lewis replied as he took the bottle back from her and set it and the others onto what little space of the table wasn’t taken up by the pile of food.
With that Marissa resumed her devouring of the food pile. Lewis almost forgot to pick up his clipboard and keep counting. The way she was acting was like an animal that had been starved for so long and had stumbled across a feast. And maybe to an extent, Lewis though, that’s exactly what this was. Marissa was a very big girl and had gotten that way from excessive eating, that much he knew. But she had always kept herself in check, and while she definitely over-ate she still managed to set some sort of limit for herself, even if it was far more than the average person could ever eat in a day.
But this was her cutting loose and not bothering to limit herself. She was letting a deeply repressed inner desire to eat everything that she could come to the surface, and probably for the first time in her life. He wondered if, not that she had a taste of stuffing herself like this, she wouldn’t resist the urge to do it more often. He recalled his friend Dym, or more specifically Dym’s friend Zarah. She was a zebra who weighed well over a thousand pounds and as such was absolutely massive. He thought about how she got that way by giving in to this same primal urge to endlessly consume. An image popped into his head of Marissa, bloated to the size of the very couch she was sitting on…
She suddenly stopped eating and spoke. “Hey, you know what…”
The couch creaked as Marissa leaned further back in it. Reaching down she grabbed the lowest point of her shirt she could reach and pulled up. Slowly her large, plump, cream-colored belly was exposed. She took a deep breath, causing her chest to expand, before letting it out.
“Oh, the heck with it.” She then pulled her shirt completely off over her head, leaving her bra as the only thing covering her torso. Even then, a significant amount of her breasts were visible.
It was all Lewis could do to not let the blood rushing from his face burst from his nose.
Marissa giggled. “You look like you never seen a girl take off her shirt before.”
“Not in person,” Lewis answered. “Well, not a wonderful plump one like you, at least.” He shuddered as he wrapped his arms around himself and mumbled something under his breath that sounded like ‘visible ribcage’. When Marissa shot him a confused and concerned glare, he simply stated, “I don’t want to talk about it…”
Realizing that Lewis was on the verge of reliving some sort of deep, dark, repressed memories, Marissa decided to snap him out of it by pushing on the sides of her breasts, causing them to be pressed together. “Well then, it’s an honor to be the first. And you know what? I think you’re the first guy to see me do that.”
Her display seemed to work- as a smile returned to Lewis’ face and his arms reused their normal positions at his sides. “In that case I am deeply delighted.”
A sly look crossed Marissa’s face. “That gives me an idea.”
Lewis leaned closer to her. “Yes?”
“How about if I let you rub my belly while I eat? All you have to do is pay attention enough to keep counting.”
The redness returned to Lewis’ face full force. “You drive a hard bargain, but I think I’ll accept anyway.”
Marissa chuckled. “You sure you don’t want to haggle a bit? I could maybe drop the ‘belly rubs’ part if you ask nicely enough.”
Lewis put up his hands in a defensive gesture. “No, no, your terms are very fair and I happily accept them.” He plopped down onto the couch next to her and leaned against her arm, stretching his own out and resting his hand on her bloated stomach.
Her warm, furry flesh buckled under his touch. His grin increased as he started to stroke her ever-expanding gut, which softly gurgled as it churned away at its meal.
“So, how much bigger do you think you’ll get?” Lewis asked.
Marissa took a moment from her eating to shrug. “Beats me. Not too much larger, probably.
Two hours later…
Lewis, now using both hands, continued to massage Marissa’s belly, which was about twice the size it had been an now took up the entirety of her lap and then some.
Marissa stared down at herself. “Well, how about- BURP!- that?”
------
“Ok, I… BELCH! I think that’s all I can do…”
Lewis stared at Marissa in giddy astonishment, if there even is such a thing. The pile of packaged food that had been on the table had been separated into two new piles- a pile of boxes and wrappers lying on the floor next to the couch, and the pile of eaten food in her belly that was so bit it caused her gut to spill over almost the entirely of her legs, acting like a thick pudgy blanked over her body.
“Holy. Freak,” was all Lewis could say as his eyes travelled up and down her bloated form.
“Tell me about it,” the red panda girl chuckled. “Wow. I… I think I need to lay down. Like, on my bed. Help me up?”
Marissa heaved her newly expanded bulk forward, Lewis pushing from behind. After several attempts she was finally able to stand up, the bear offering what little support he could. As she stood up fully a soft ‘plop’ sound could be heard, followed by Marissa feeling a ticking sensation on the underside of her stomach.
“Lewis?”
“Yeah, Issa?”
“What is the bottom of my belly touching?”
“That would be the floor, Issa.”
“I see. This is going to be more difficult than we thought, isn’t it?”
“Perhaps. Though… I have an idea.” He then bent over and wrapped his hands around the sides of her cream-colored belly. Grunting, he lifted the furry flesh off the ground. “Wow, this is heavier than it looks.”
“Try having it strapped around your torso at all times,” Marissa chuckled.
Lewis pondered this a moment before replying. “That sounds kind of hot.”
The stuffed red panda laughed, which turned into a yawn.
“Alright, let’s get you to bed,” Lewis stated as he started slowly directing her around the couch and down a hallway, still holding up her overstuffed gut. It was a short distance to her room, but given her newfound belly bulk she was significantly slower.
Lewis took a moment to get a good look at her. The results of her binge were most obvious in her midsection, but now that she was standing up it showed how much the other parts of her body had also been affected. Her arms had swollen up slightly, meaning they were extra wobbly when she held them out for balance- which was slightly ironic, Lewis noted. Her chest seemed to have gained a bit of girth as well, her breasts now trying to squeeze out of the bra that had fit her just fine when they had started. Not to mention they were bouncing around like basketballs.
When they arrived in her room, Marissa took a minute to wiggle herself out of her shorts. Lewis’ face flushed slightly red as her large rump was exposed to him. He had never seen her ‘undressed backside’ before, but he was pretty sure her butt had bulked up form the feast as well. Her panties looked like pink string wrapped around her hips, digging small crevices into her flesh like artificial love handles. It was a similar story with her legs- he rarely if ever had seen her thighs unclothed, but he could swear they were thicker and her fat rolls where hanging just a bit lower. With a sigh Marissa flopped backwards onto her bed, causing her body to wobble, especially her belly, which covered most of her torso and legs like a blanket. Lewis slipped onto what little room there was next to her, sniggling against her and stroking his hand along her belly. For a few minutes the only sounds that could be heard were the wind outside, Lewis’ hand running across her furry flesh, and the soft gurgling of her stomach as it worked away at her massive binge.
Finally Marissa spoke. “So, did you get to count up my total number of snacks eaten?”
“Mm-hm,” Lewis nodded.
“And?”
“Two-hundred and seventeen…”
“Oh wow, no wonder I feel so-”
“…boxes.”
“-stuffed?” Marissa finished. “Wait, you mean…”
“You ate two-hundred and seventeen boxes of food,” Lewis stated. “The boxes all have different amounts of snacks in them that would have to be counted more precisely later, but if we figure an average of, say, six, that’s-”
“A lot,” Marissa gulped
“Not to mention all the soda you drank,” Lewis pointed out.
The fat red panda let out a long breath. “Well, that certainly explains why my stomach was touching the floor when we were done.”
The bear chuckled as he gave her gorged gut a pat. “So, you full yet?”
Marissa yawned. “I was full hours ago, honestly.”
Lewis raised an eyebrow. “Then why didn’t you stop? I only meant to ask how much you could eat until you were full.”
“Because I really, really like being full.” Marisa wrapped one of her pudgy arms around Lewis, pulling him closer. “And more than that, I really, really like you feeding me and watching me eat and rubbing my belly…”
A smile spread across Lewis’ face. “In that case, we should do this more often. Maybe not to this extent, though. You barely fit behind that cashier counter the way it was.”
“Oh, speaking of which, how long is this storm supposed to last?”
“Um, a few days I think. Why?”
“Good,” Marissa said, closing her eyes. “We’re going to be closed due to weather for the next few days… because I think I’m going to be doing some hibernating.”
