Slip-Knot Panic.
I get to teach a lot of really awesome classes at my LYS. Sometimes I even feel guilty about that because it seems a little too good to be true. Each class is different and holds a special place in my heart & mind, but for whatever reason I really love the first class for beginners. It's those first 10minutes. The Slip-Knot. For whatever reason, this easiest feat in knitting always takes three times longer to figure out than I expect. And in those first moments, I always get this little thrill because it feels like the wheels may come flying off this well-oiled, practiced class. The thought never fails to cross my mind,
Holy crap. What if I can't get them to make this knot?
Of course, we all make it through. Everyone figures out the slip-knot. We cast-on. And everyone leaves a bonafide knitter, hopefully enjoying the comic relief that inevitably walks hand-in-hand with learning this new skill.
And every time we wrap up a session, I can't wait for the next round when I get to briefly panic over a slip-knot all over again.
