I have been advised that sharing a sketch before it’s finished is a perfectly normal thing to do. Therefore, I can share with you my newest ongoing project! I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. And by that I mean I’m bouncing with happiness like the Energiser bunny. I have no idea how I’m going to colour this monster though.

Featuring Witch Mahiru with his familiar, Kuro, just in time for Halloween!

Man. Kuro really just attracts people who want to keep him alive and living, methods varying. All of whom want to be around him. All of whom are under his strange influence.

Germaine. The Count Saint, responsible for a good majority of the horrors known to the magic world of Servamp through his blood and experiments, had started all of what was happening because of his love for Adam and the grief of losing him to something as seemingly inescapable as death. He brought Sleepy Ash from the dead just so he can live a life that was robbed of him. His goal? Germaine wanted to be beside Adam and then Sleepy Ash. To live beside him.

Sloth. A demon born from Sleepy Ash himself, of the feelings and parts of himself that he cast away. A physical manifestation of his power as a supernatural being. Sloth is the being that actively keeps Kuro alive each and every moment no matter if it was a choice or not. Sloth... never really gives us any hints that he himself wanted to die as Kuro does so I can only assume. It turns out, all Sloth wanted from the start was to be accepted by his host and to live beside him. As two but one.

And Mahiru... Mahiru, the stubborn human that bonded himself with Kuro and made the vampire face his deepest fears and regrets and made him accept himself as someone who cannot die. Someone who is a vampire. Mahiru with his mortal life, makes Kuro look forward instead of back and makes him live no matter how much he never wanted to. Mahiru walks by his side, stubborn as a mule. Mahiru knows Kuro cannot die, so instead of wanting him to stay alive, he wants Kuro to live. Even after his own bones turn to dust.

Kuro is surrounded by people who want him alive and want him to live, no matter if he wants that or not.

The contract between an Eve and their respective Inner Demon connects their minds together in a way. The demon can easily meet their eve in their head and, when the situation calls for it like the couple times we’ve seen in canon so far, the Eve can enter the Servamp’s mind to greet the demon.

The demons can take control of their host’s bodies, again, as we’ve seen. So it wouldn’t be that far of a stretch for the demon to jump the contract and take control of their eve’s body.

The change would be rather obvious, and the phenomena wouldn’t happen often at all. Mostly in moments of desperation and need to protect the Eve when the actual Servamp can’t.

Imagine a battle that’s left Kuro unable to move, unable to protect or fight properly. Mahiru’s up against an opponent they cannot defeat without him, or more accurately, Sloth’s power. All of the pairs are there, C3, Youtarou and Gear perhaps.

They all get to be witness to a split second of something strange happening, and suddenly they aren’t looking at Mahiru anymore.

The horns sprout and the fangs are bared for all to see, brown hair turning black in the blink of an eye and suddenly the battlefield is engulfed in blue flame. A manic laugh that is half Mahiru’s voice and half not, neither spoken by him.

Within a couple seconds, their enemy is nothing more that dust and that thing is laughing, walking back to where Kuro had fallen and crouching down, whispering something none of them care about.

Tooru watches this and could only focus on his nephew’s face, framed by void black hair. He stops himself from slumping to the ground and mutters a broken prayer, heart hurting his ribs.

He was so, so glad Mahiru had nothing of Touma but his stubbornness.
