Savory Slow Cooked BBQ Beef Ribs Enjoy tender and flavorful beef ribs infused with a sweet and spicy BBQ rub, slow-cooked to perfection and finished with a rich homemade sauce. Ingredients 1 - 2 racks beef ribs sliced into individual ribs SWEET AND SPICY BBQ RUB ½ cup light brown sugar packed 2 tablespoons paprika 2 tablespoons granulated garlic powder 1 tablespoon kosher salt 2 teaspoons black pepper 2 teaspoons ground cumin 1 teaspoon chili powder 1 teaspoon granulated onion powder 1 teaspoon ginger ¼ - ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper QUICK BBQ SAUCE 1 cup ketchup ¾ cup brown sugar packed ¼ cup apple cider vinegar or red wine vinegar ¼ cup Sweet Spicy BBQ Rub 1 tablespoon yellow mustard 1 tablespoon liquid smoke 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce Instructions MAKE THE RUB: In a small bowl, combine all the BBQ rub ingredients and mix until well blended. A fork works well to break up any lumps. Alternatively, you can place all the ingredients in a large empty spice container and shake to combine. COAT THE RIBS: For 1 rack of ribs, use approximately ½ cup of the BBQ rub to generously coat the ribs. If youre preparing 2 racks, double the amount of rub. Place the coated ribs in the slow cooker, cover, and set to low for about 5 hours. Ensure they are cooked until tender, but not so long that the bone falls off. MAKE THE SAUCE: In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, mix together all the sauce ingredients. Once it begins to bubble, reduce the heat to low to avoid splatters, and let it simmer, stirring occasionally for 10 minutes. If splattering persists, partially cover the saucepan. PREPARE THE RIBS: Remove the cooked ribs and place them on a foil-lined baking sheet. Brush the Sweet and Spicy BBQ Sauce generously over the ribs. Optionally, you can place the ribs under the broiler for a few minutes until caramelized, or grill them on medium-high heat for about 5-10 minutes until beautifully caramelized. Serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side.
