EDISSY FIC REC — PART 2

Disclaimer: these are almost all E rated. I’m sorry but it’s not really my fault if these two spent all their 5 minutes screentime eye-fucking each other 😔  

the streets of philadelphia by @ivy-eyed : I keep breaking my “I don’t recommend wip” rule but I really can’t help it, I am obsessed with this fic. Chrissy, Max and Steve roommate AU, they don’t know nor they like each other at the beginning and it’s just so beautiful to see them bonding and forming this unlikely found family. And of course there is the romance: Eddie here is a tattooed library page that plays guitar in a grunge band like ??? helloo I’d pay real money to see a character like that in a romcom. There’s also Lumax and Harringrove and I know the last one is not everyone’s cup of tea but really you should give this fic a try because it’s so so good. And there are all these familiar faces and references that keep showing up (Barbs is alive and sing in a band!! they hang out at a bar called “the eleven” !!! Murray’s the owner of a thrift shop called “Conspiracy Connections” !!!!) and it’s absolutely delicious. 

Legendary by broomclosetkink: okay listen, listen, I’m not even into omegaverse ??? (I was traumatised by the spn fandom back then) but this fic THIS FIC !!! If you like omegaverse you’ll absolutely love it, but even if you don’t trust me, give it a try. It’s hot and tender and so well written and the characters are so on point and the abo dynamic fits so well into the jason\chrissy\eddie dynamic. Also this is an “one-shot that feels like a multi chaps” fic because the characters and the setting are so fleshed out it seems you have known them for ages and I love when an author is able to do that !!

i’m following lightning by @slowlimbs: speaking about authors being able to write one-shots that feel like multi chaps because they’re so well written, this is an amazing vignette style fic that I adored. College AU, it shows glimpses of chrissy and eddie’s relationship and how it develops until the grand finale which is... chef’s kiss. Imho it is not easy to write about daddy kink and I often find it a bit cringe, but here it’s so well executed it made me all blushing and giggling and reading it again a thousand times. 

home-sick for familiar trees by @charmtion: saddle up homos! We are going to read E-rated fics and cry and that’s exactly what happened to me with this one. So beautiful, so poetic. It’s about missing opportunities and regrets and second chances and maybes. It’s gorgeous and melancholy and sexy. I do consider this one a milestone in the eddissy fandom and you cannon’t miss it.

in the second drawer on the right by @seicchan-art: it couldn’t be a properly eddissy fic rec without at least one seicchanart’s fics in it (please please never stop to write them). This one is about eddie’s tentacle porn, and it’s fucking cute and hilarious and not actually e-rated (see, I’m not a complete degenerate and I do enjoy smutless fic too!!).

For I Have Sinned by @slumped-in-the-arms-of-fiction: in my defense I have none. I was born and raised catholic in Italy. Like I open my window and the skyline is actually just churches. How I am supposed not to recommend this delicious drabble ??? This made me felt things. My only complain is that I am greedy and I want more.

I feel like we should also add to that post that like… Grace did more in ten minutes to show her character work and her understanding of her role than some actors do in episodes or seasons?

She seems so sweet. It’s so unfair.

You're right tbh and you should say it. I'll sing the praises of @quirly all day and twice on Sunday.

It really was a one episode part with just a handful of scenes, but you could tell Grace really gave it her all regardless of that fact. There's a reason why people love Chrissy and make art and edits of her in spite of her short screen time - and that's all down to Grace's performance and doing everything she could to make the character endearing and having us empathize/sympathize with her struggles. It wasn't just a "guest star of the week", she left an impact on the audience and on the character of Eddie... that we all felt the loss and missed her when she was gone.

In some respects it's a thankless task, but so much rested on her shoulders. If she hadn't put the care and consideration that she did into her performance, it all could have fallen apart. "Ok, this character has secret trauma... and now she's dead. Sad, sure, but I don't feel anything bc we didn't really get a chance to know her."

It all could have fallen flat and felt hollow, but it didn't... and that's all Grace, and her bringing to life what was on the page and then elevating it. You feel the loss of Chrissy, you empathize with how Eddie - and even Jason to a degree - feel. The "Chrissy, this is for you" moment is such a payoff because of it. Like Joe said, yes, Eddie had a crush on her... but that moment wasn't about her in relation to anyone else or how they felt about her. It was a tribute to her her own individual character.

A character Grace was able to bring to life and make us all love in such a short amount of time. If she hasn't done that, that moment wouldn't have been as powerful or satisfying as it was. For me, personally.

It wasn't about Eddie. Yes, he had a cool badass moment jamming out on the guitar - but. That wasn't about Eddie. Like yes it served a tactical purpose to lure the demobats away, I realize that - but it wasn't about Eddie having a cool moment. It wasn't about that to me, and it wasn't about that to his character.

Honoring her life, and avenging her death. That was for Chrissy.

Please tell me about richies thoughts waiting for Eddie to come around in the hospital after Derry 2.0 I need some angsty fluff

honestly, angst & hurt/comfort is also what i’m needing. these might not be cohesive, might be a bunch of different ideas

Richie would absolutely refuse to leave, nurses would try at first bc of visiting hours but he just wouldn’t go, he’d maybe even offer up bribes(?) for them to let him stay

the other losers would have to bring him meals, nurses would let him use a shower in the hospital. and eventually he’d charm all the nurses and they’d bring him little pots of strawberry jello, and offer him any leftovers they had from their meal rounds

he would just sit there, letting his ass go numb and hold Eddie’s hand, stroking his thumb over the back of Eddie’s hand. Telling him ridiculous stories, bad experiences in hopes that he’d wake up and rant at him for being an idiot

he’d plead, pray and promise for Eddie, to anything out there listening. He’d also probably shave Eddie’s face and do his skin care routine (bc Eddie absolutely takes care of his skin)

Myra would probably come along, and unfortunately she’d have more power, but the nurses would keep him up to date, and he’d spend as much time there as possible

and when Eddie wakes up, the first person he asks for is Richie, Myra will be sobbing and being fucking shit, but he’s just ignoring her and looking for Richie

and obviously, despite the Hide Behind Humour Attitude, Richie would fucking burst out into tears when he sees Eddie awake

Eddie would have the nerve to ask if Richie was okay, telling him not to cry. even though he’s the one in the hospital bed
