i’ve rly been thinking about the satoglad scene in sm049 lately, lol. and the rest of the ep! it’s one of my fav episodes!
i just... love how mad gladion was. there are very few moments in anipoke where i can just feel the raw anger in the character, whether it be by their voice or emotions, and gladion’s portrayal in this specific episode may just be my favorite.
the epsiode starts out with a flashback of lillie seeing silvally again, and we remember the fear she had in the last episode. how it brought back her trauma. and now we know exactly why gladion became angry.
in the next scene, we really see how angry gladion got after lillie just seeing silvally. he seems to have gone to kukui’s house in the middle of the night again, just to chastise and scold him. though ash begins to talk about what happened with nebby, gladion screams to not blame it on nebby. we don’t see what becomes of the argument that seems it’s about to be starting, but we do see the same anger in gladion’s emotions as the episode continues.
first it’s seeing faba at the motel, though gladion is strong, faba knows how to get what he wants. then it’s lusamine in her aether foundation office, he’s just.. surprised. surprised that lillie doesn’t know where faba took silvally, surprised she didn’t even remember what type: null was, surprised she seemed to not have realized lillie not being able to touch pokémon anymore. for four years.
gladion’s anime portrayal is probably my favorite just because of the lusamine scenes, he really only cares about lillie’s wellbeing and it’s clear he doesn’t exactly like the people in the aether foundation. but him not being afraid to get angry when his mother does something wrong, it seems so unusual to really like, but i really love it.
and i just love when ash and lillie are walking, and lillie just knows. she only had a hunch ash saw gladion the night before, and she was right. and i love how ash explains what happened, it’s absolutely hilarious. and, even though hilarious, it’s what starts one of the more serious stories in s&m.
