It sparked something in Lionel.#For the first time in a very long time he feels an intimate attachment towards another#But he doesn't handle it properly#For one Martha is married and he still tried to move in on her#He treats it a bit like a game. And honestly it's probably not a game he's lost in the past so his confusion at her rejection is#somewhat understandable.#But he also tries to impress her by allowing her to talk him into charity donations amongst other things.#And many of the actions aren't necessarily genuine in the sense that he's really only doing it for her benefit.#To win her over.#So on the surface it doesn't appear as if Lionel is changing for the better#but the thing of it is that kindness is like a muscle.#And for him to even ATTEMPT to be kind for someone elses benefit is a big step for his character
