I'm curious. Is your url supposed to be "vipers lang" or "viper slang"?
it depends on how someone interprets it.

Emotional outburst VS "poetry".
To take a part in this debate, started by one smartyrpoetry, I would like to offer you this fact: I almost NEVER rewrite or edit my "first drafts". It's not because I believe that my work is perfect - it isn't, far from it - but I believe that poetry, at its most pure, is an intense emotional outburst that cannot be contained. To me, editing my emotions (in the form of editing my poetry) would be like lying to myself and my readers. Everything I write is a small piece of my soul. Many of the pieces on my poetry tag -if not all - are first drafts. And many of them have been featured. Now, this is not due to some fault of the feature system or the editors, because I took my Creative Writing scholarship portfolio from my pool of featured works and submitted them unedited. I was subsequently given the highest score and $10,000 a year for what I wrote. These pieces that I submitted were all first drafts, and had all been featured on tumblr. And a team of english and creative writing professors deemed it worthy of $40,000 in the course of 4 years. Poetry is not about having words that need a dictionary to be read. Yes, it is an artform. But that does not mean it needs to be pretentious to garner a feature - nor does it mean that it needs to be insipid and unrefined to be popular. As with art, poets and readers have different tastes and different styles and different preferences. Tumblr, and the editors as a whole, have done a phenomenal job making sure that a wide variety of those tastes and styles have been represented. Please, do not tell us to "pick up a fucking dictionary". Do not chastise writers for letting their emotions flow freely. Poetry is a valid and important form of therapy and recovery, and is not meant to be constricted by ANY social or educational constructs. The tags are what the tags are. The features are what the features are.

Men are(n’t) pigs.
I’m guilty for spewing that statement out of anger towards men a time or two before. I went home with a friend and her father was a big guy, very manly in every way and he looked at us and he told us to never forget that men are pigs and if we learned that lesson, we’ll be alright. I never thought about how this statement actually could hurt the feelings of other men, I mean I forgot all together than men have feelings, because they cover them up so well. So I started thinking about this a little more. Women want to be treated equal, so if men are pigs, that would make women pigs too. Eve was created from one of Adam’s ribs. Adam is a man, therefore Adam is a pig, therefore Eve came from a pig’s rib… okay, so now every time my sister orders a stack of ribs I’m going to think about how I am that stack… But I get it. I understand feeling complete defeated and deflated by the opposite sex. (in my case, maybe the same sex in yours) I think one of the most difficult things to do is to not judge other people by the way someone else has treated you in your past. I mean, how is that fair? It’s in our human nature to put our defenses up with everyone we meet, but in reality each person should have a clean slate when we meet them, isn’t that what you want to be seen as with other people? To be given the chance to prove to a person that you’re not like the others that have hurt them in the past? Being hurt is inevitable and it’s impossible to avoid, unless you decide to become a hermit. This is what I believe though. You grow as yourself (I mean not just as a person but who you are as a person) with the way you hurt. You can’t have love without hurt and therefore you can’t have hurt without love… I think that says something. Even when you find that perfect person for you, that person isn’t perfect and in some way, small or big, intentional or unintentional, they’re going to hurt you. I think we have to accept that instead of playing the blame game. You’re constantly going to have people coming in and out of your life, which sometimes sucks, to watch someone leave your life when you thought they would be in it a lot longer, but them leaving leaves room for someone else to come in. That person could bring to you a whole different perspective on the daily mundane we face, they could teach you things, and help you create a reality you feel better about, but they wouldn’t have made it through that door and into your room if someone didn’t leave. Maybe I’ve already gone past rambling, but these are just some of the thoughts I’ve had about this. I’m guilty in the fact that when my face burns red with hurt and anger, my thoughts go to man as a whole and how I want to curse them for eternity, but just because one man has shown me his pigginess… it doesn’t mean that men (every single man on the face of this earth) are pigs.
