So good to see someone who appreciates my girl Allison and doesn't take away Vanya's responsibility, like the show and 90% of the fandom does /o///
girl….im an allison supremacist and its so ugly how both the show and fandom trivialize what has been done to her and then proceed to sweep it under the rug like its a nonissue because poor vanya didnt mean it she was just going through her dark phoenix stage. s p a r e m e.
i will maintain that vanya’s arc in the comics was handled much better and made me sympathetic to her plight. show!vanya’s ‘im not special’ woes drove me up the wall considering that she was powerful all along and so her arc couldnt sustain the weight and gravitas it needed to pull it off and only managed to drag the show down. the episodes went by, she kept bemoaning being ordinary and continued to isolate herself because she was mad at her siblings for not including her in their dangerous hijinks . lather, rinse, repeat.
and then she went on a cliched white woman power fantasy rampage set to cool music like yawn. at least in the comics, she was afforded some agency and drive which led her to the dark path of undergoing surgery to become ‘special.’
there’s tragedy and poetry in that.
anyway, i have learned to ignore fandom and just go into the edit tags to avoid the mind-numbingly bad takes and hopefully, the show will retain allison’s anger towards vanya and her inability to forgive her after shit settles down.
