pals with cats: can anyone explain why smudge likes it so much when I like... cup my hand and basically whack him repeatedly on the back? he genuinely loves it and it's weirding me out.

you can always tell when Smudge has done something he shouldn’t have because he slinks around the house and the as soon as you make eye contact he trots away at top speed (which is not very fast) and then it’s just a matter of figuring out what he did

look theoretically I know I have to get up and go to uni but smudge is asleep and purring on my lap and pixel is snoring in my ear and look. look. is uni really as important as that?

my mornign has mostly consisted of pix sneaking up on smudge, smudge hissing at him, and then pix wandering off like "what, old man, I didn't do anything"

that is actually untrue; I very much do care how my cats feel about teeny cat. they don't like him but they're not overly distressed by him, they're mostly just kinda pissed off that he exists. the main reason they're separated right now is because monty won't stop trying to eat kitten food rather than because anyone's getting fighty. smudge won't stop hissing at him, but I liken that to him walking around the house going "goddamn motherfucking piece of shit children get the hell off my lawn".
