about an hour ago i came out of the shower and my cat was laying on top of the mesh again. i kind of nudged her off of it, and that was when i noticed it. the duct tape was sagging down. i could see tad's tail and most of his body, but his neck and head had disappeared from view. i got closer and realized he had gotten himself stuck on the duct tape. his lower jaw and neck were stuck. it wasn't too bad, though, so i undid the tape from the top of the mesh and moved it a little so i could set him free. that was when he started to panic. he started writhing and twisting, entangling himself in the duct tape so badly that i couldn't get him out.
colby and i ran some warm water and started to slowly work him out of it. naturally he was terrified and wouldn't sit still, so it took a while before we got anywhere. once we got him completely free he was wheezing and i was crying and i was pretty sure his neck had been broken. after holding him for a few minutes and calming him down, it seems that he's physically okay. he started to move his head and neck normally and nuzzled up to my face like he usually does. but he's still wheezing. and i know he's in shock. we had to use my stephen king illustrated companion to cover the hole in his cage until i can get to the pet store tomorrow. i'm worried he'll die from shock. or that he's blinded in one eye.
can you tell i'm sort of upset? i haven't written like this for a while.
please just keep tad in your thoughts.
i'm still shaking and i can't sleep.
