This chapter begins where the last one left off, with Judar offering Celendine and Sinbad his assistance in taking back Parthevia. Sinbad says that if what Judar said is true, that the Parthevia Empire is currently trying to carry out a domestic purge, then he cannot overlook it. However, he is not able to really trust Judar so quickly. He says that Magi are able to fly and disappear freely whenever they wish, saying that the magi he knows had used those magic techniques at least. He then asks Judar if he too can use such amazing magic techniques, he should be able to instantly transport them to the Parthevian Empire. Annoyed, Judar decides to oblige Sinbad and once again show them the power of a true Magi, but then suddenly changes his mind and decides to stop. Annoyed, Ja’far calls him out, but Judar simply explains that if he were to use that much magic, he would get tired and that he not obligated to do it. And besides that, he says it doesn’t matter because his power will become absolutely necessary to them eventually. Ja’far then secretly asks Sinbad what they should do and mentions that it would be dangerous to ignore him. Sinbad agrees and says that while they don’t know who he is and why he came to them, they cannot ignore the information itself. Ja’far says that he does seem to be the real deal based on how Zephar reacted to him and Sinbad then suggests that rather than use him, it’s better to have him close by to keep watch over him. He then entrusts him to Celendine. She accepts and tells him that she will report to Sinbad if there are any problems. Upon hearing this, Judar is pleased and smugly says that it would be better if they brought him along from the start. This annoys Sinbad and he begins to stretch Judar’s face once more, saying that he still doesn’t trust him. But this only activates Judar’s defensive barrier, shocking Sinbad and irritating him further.
As the group begins to head back, Drakon calls out to Sinbad. He says that although they can’t confirm it, he believes that Judar was telling the truth about the purge occurring in Parthevia. He explains that while they were escaping from Parthevia, one of their opponents transformed into some strange creature and it was only thanks to his household vessel, that they were able to get away safely. He goes on to say the problem is that Parthevia already has the technology to fuse humans with dungeon creatures and worries about this technology eventually being used to turn to entire country into monsters. He then states that if that were to happen, they would have unprecedented military power and would become the world’s most powerful nation. He says that even Celendine couldn’t deny these things.
The scene then switches to Balbadd, one month later, as Sinbad is paying a visit to King Rashid. The king learns that Sinbad was not able to make the Dark Continent into his country and expresses his condolences. Sinbad then says that it was a really interesting place and that he was able to see mysterious plants, a vast desert, make a new friend and was even able to increase his allies. Having also heard about Zephar and the Torran village, King Rashid comments on how powerful Sinbad is. He says that Sinbad truly is interesting and comments that with these stories, his adventure tales have increased. He then turns to the topic of the Magi and says that since he only knows of Magi from legends, he cannot comment on this matter and then switches the topic to the Parthevian Empire, which catches Sinbad’s full attention. He says that all he has heard is that following the cease-fire treaty, Parthevia’s trade situation has been stable and that he has not heard of any kind of inhumane purge. Upon seeing Sinbad’s distress, he tells him that if he’s that worried about it, he should go there and see for himself. The king explains that Balbadd and Parthevia are strong trade partners and it wouldn’t be unusual for him to visit on diplomacy. He then asks Sinbad if he would accompany him as his escort and meet directly with the emperor of the Parthevian Empire!
And there you have it! Oh man, it seems that Judal has joined the group for the time being. This should be interesting… Also, I don’t think King Rashid gets enough recognition for how amazing he is! I love the relationship he has with Sinbad. He’s his teacher and he also uses him own power and influence to help Sinbad so much. I love how ‘Magi Sinbad’ still recognizes this debt he has to him even after all these years.
This week’s illustration is of…. Drakon?! Well that was unexpected… XD
Drakon – …freshly stripped.
Ja’far – This shed skin might sell at a high price!
Sinbad – It’s so warm!
Sinbad – Drakon, you shed your skin huh?
