Can I request some more love for the Sonic Battle OST? Specifically for the tracks Emerald Town, Library, the final credits music and this other story track, I've seen it called Sneaky Bat in a couple playlists (is it supposed to be about Rouge? I kinda asociate it more with Shadow…)
Hey there! Yes, we don't see a lot of Sonic Battle here, so I appreciate the request! I have your others queued for the coming weeks, sprinkled with my own tracks. Today, I'll cover the track you referred to as "Sneaky Bat". In my playlist, it's simply called "History".
This is a fascinating one--quite dissonant for a GBA track, and really pushing what can be put together with this sound chip. It sounds like something geared more towards exploring a musty old sewer than the expositionally titled "History" may imply. While it starts out really sparse with just the simple hip hop beat in the back, it turns really dense with the chunky square wave bass line, the multiple guitar synths, and the padding too. This is pretty dense harmonically, with lots of different little melody lines interspersed that aren't really resolved. I wouldn't say there's much of any resolution harmonically going on here--it's very tense.
