baizhu and diluc live a constant battle with thier own self images of vulnerability;

diluc is a fighter, a warrior, he strives to /survive/ to get out of every predicament alive, but at the same time he also uses fighting to let out his emotions, (see: the fatui hunt break where he got banned from snezhnaya but not before getting drunk) he hates letting others see his wounds, he absolutely despises it because he can take care of himself just fine.

baizhu is a doctor, a healer, if he even so much as falters his smile in front of anyone, they'll start to doubt him and his medical abilities they'll start to panic, thinking that if even the doctor that was going to save them suddenly possibly couldn't save them, now they're fucked and its all because he took a millisecond to stop giving them a reassuring smile.

so throughout the course of their relationship, they have to learn /with each other/ how to be vulnerable, diluc lets his wounds be healed and sewn up by baizhu, and in return baizhu lets his mind and face rest and as much as changsheng doesn't like diluc, shes finally glad baizhu has someone to truly just relax in front of
