Adoption Rules
Raffles
A certain number of people (provided on the adopt itself) will be allowed to enter. If slots do not fill, then the raffle will close entries after 3 days.
Put your name in the raffle by commenting on the newt adopt that you want to apply! Provide a short bio of the newt.
Newt bio should include: Name: (your choice!) Favorite Food: (what food lures the newt closer?) Location Found: (where you found the newt) Quirk: (something you observed them doing, for scientific research)
OPTIONAL: To gain another raffle ticket, you can draw a picture of the newt or write a short story (500 words).
OPTIONAL: To gain another raffle ticket, you can draw fanart or write a short story (500 words) for another newt.
All artwork that features a newt not your own counts towards community points!
Three days after the drop, the wheel of names is spun, and the winner is contacted. If you already provided art/writing of the newt for the raffle then the adoption automatically goes through.
If you did not provide a drawing/story for the newt, you have 24 hours to do so.
If no drawing/story is provided then the raffle is run again.
Points Guide
Points are rewards for squiggle newt interactions! They are entirely optional, but necessary for things like gaining new legs (which allows your squiggle newt to grow up, or lay eggs of their own) or introducing new mutations into the squiggle newt population.
Quick Guide
Drawing of your squiggle newt: +1GP 500 words of story of your squiggle newt: +1GP
Drawing OR 500 words of your and someone else's newt: +2GP for your newt, +1GP for the other newt, +1CP
Drawing OR 500 words of someone else's newt: +1GP for the other newt, +2CP
Growth Points (GP)
These points are gained by doing a drawing of your squiggle newts. Squiggle newts age by gaining growth points, which allow them to move from larval stage (iggle) to juvenile stage (eft) to adult newt.
To reach eft: 5 GP
To reach adult: 5 GP
To age up 1 year: 10 GP (+1GP for every 5 years)
Community Points (CP)
Community points represent the research and time put into the squiggle newt community! After a certain number of community points, a new mutation will be introduced to the population via egg batches or new starter newts.

Validating Points
In order to get your points validated and officially get the OK stamp for more leggies, you need to create a post that links all "proof" of points. This post will be linked onto your squiggle newt's profile. When submitting for points validation, send in an ask to @squigglenewtresearchcenter with the post linked and points tallied. Once your points have been validated, your squiggle newt will be officially noted as aged up on the Squiggle Newt Registry.
