Daisy breaks up w/ Jemma after 5.18
daisy isn’t expecting jemma to be there when she walks into her room hoping to get at least a couple hours of sleep before the next cataclysmic event.she stops short at the entrance to the room, and her fingers dig into the wood of the door jamb as she puts her hands up to steady herself.the last time she had seen jemma, it was through the CCTV, and jemma had been doing her best to avoid being seen as she and elena escaped the facility with fitz in tow. the last time she had seen jemma face to face, fitz was pressing a scalpel to the back of her neck.she can feel the still healing cut throb in time to her suddenly rapid pulse.daisy hadn’t really expected to see jemma again.especially when she could see that jemma got her letter that daisy had left on top of her bed.jemma looks up from the paper in her hands and jumps a little bit when she notices that daisy is there.“what are you doing here?” daisy asks hoping that her voice doesn’t betray the overwhelming amount of emotions swirling inside of her.she had hoped that jemma would’ve made this easier for her, especially since she seems to have chosen the side she wants to be on, but daisy should’ve known better.
jemma frowns, but she doesn’t answer immediately, looking around daisy’s room as though it’ll give her an answer. she looks back down at the letter in her hands and then back up at daisy, confusion clouding her eyes and furrowing her brow.“what is this supposed to be?” she asks waving the letter around.“i think it’s pretty self-explanatory, don’t you?”jemma shakes her head. daisy’s fingers tighten on the door jamb even more before she’s forcing herself to relax.she takes a deep breath and lets go, walking into the room, but not bothering to close the door behind her.she takes the letter out of jemma’s unresisting fingers and unfolds it again.“jemma, i really would prefer to do this in person, but since you’re not here, you’re off doing something else, and i wasn’t deemed important enough to know what it was, i guess this will have to do. we’re done…”“stop,” jemma interrupts and daisy looks up at her. “that’s not what i meant,” she continues while daisy refolds the letter. “why are you doing this?” she asks voice low and hurt.daisy feels it deep in her stomach, and she wants to tell jemma that it’s nothing, that she was just upset, that she loves her so fucking much that she can’t think straight.but it’s not nothing, and daisy has every right to be upset, and she loves jemma, but its not enough, not anymore.she steels herself and looks at jemma in the eyes, “what were you expecting? the last time you were able to look at me your best friend was cutting into the back of my neck. i had thought that in that at least you would’ve been on my side, but instead you plot with elena and betray mack and break fitz out of holding as though we were keeping him there for no other reason than that we wanted him there.”“that is not what…” jemma starts but daisy talks over her.“if that wasn’t bad enough, there’s also the fact that deke is your grandson, yours and fitz’s.”jemma looks startled for a moment as though she hadn’t expected daisy to know that.“you know it’s funny,” daisy says when jemma doesn’t respond. “ward had told me once, right when we started this thing, that some day your history with him will be more important than our relationship. i told him to stop talking about things he could never hope to understand, but i guess he understood more about it than i did.”“that’s not what this is about,” jemma says with determination. “fitz, fitz has no bearing on our relationship. you’re the one i want to be with. i’ve chosen you. you just, you can’t understand.”“can’t understand what?” daisy asks feeling a small spark of anger. “that you feel like you owe it to him for everything that he’s done for you? because he’s saved your life so many times? because he’s the father of your child?”“no,” jemma says shaking her head and finally standing from the bed, making daisy take several steps back. “it’s not about any of that. i don’t care that he’s the father! i was just doing the same thing that i would’ve done if the situation had been reversed.”daisy laughs and it sounds ugly and malicious to her ears, “because you would’ve been plotting to help me escape instead of dealing with fitz’s wound if our situations were reversed.”jemma doesn’t say anything, but daisy doesn’t need her to, she already knows the answer.“why are we we even arguing about this? we saw the future, i destroy the world and you have at least one child with fitz. we may as well give in to the inevitable.”“why are you hung up on that?” jemma asks voice strained and confused. “of course fitz is the father of my children, who else would we get to surrogate?”daisy gives jemma a disbelieving look, “because that’s the image running through your head, that’s the first thing you thought about when you found out?”once again jemma doesn’t say anything.daisy scoffs and moves so that jemma can pass by her.“there’s nothing more to discuss.”jemma opens her mouth, but daisy has had enough of this. “please, go. i don’t know when else i’ll be able to get a few hours of sleep, and i just, don’t want to talk about this anymore.”jemma just nods her head and leaves closing the door as she goes.daisy knows that this isn’t going to be the last time they have this argument, but she’s so tired.she kicks off her shoes and falls face first on top of the bed, before getting comfortable.she stares at the opposing wall, hoping the muted grey color will lull her to sleep.daisy closes her eyes.she doesn’t fall asleep.
