I don’t think many young queer Heated Rivalry fans understand how much this show means to us old ones. And I don’t think they actually really appreciate that this show is really queer. I’ve see someone say the fandom isn’t that queer, though it is gay.

Babe, that is the same fucking thing. Gay is queer. You’re asking about exploring gender, sexuality and more? That’s fine but you don’t get to say ‘this isn’t a queer space’. This is a queer space. This is a queer show. No we’re not exploring gender, but we are exploring sexuality. We see Shane have to come to terms with himself. That’s a queer experience- you don’t get to go ‘well what about-‘.

No. Just no. You are dismissing the queerness of the show because it doesn’t fit your narrative of what that is. And you don’t understand how much this show is doing.

You don’t understand what a blessing this show is for people to see so much love in a queer relationship. It’s a messy, messy thing. But it’s so fucking beautiful.

We nearly did have this. American producers wanted Rose in the first episode. I doubt they’d have let them hook up or kiss until the end. They’d have destroyed the show to make it palatable for the audience.

This is a queer show. It’s a gay show. It’s a queer fandom. It’s a gay fandom.

I am so happy gender and sexuality is more talked about. I’ve shared my own recent discoveries about myself- that I’m more ‘demiboy’ then (I am sticking with nonbinary though as I don’t really like that term for myself) anything and that my sexuality is much more in depth than just being AFAB into women. These are important conversations to have.

However you can’t just… dismiss gayness as not being ‘that queer’. You can’t ignore the fact Shane is struggling because he’s not doing it a way you judge as queer.

I’ve read a few fantastic Trans!Shane fics. (Mostly trans!woman fics.) I’ve read some good gender fuckery fics where they explore themselves outside the gender binary.

But it’s still queer when we write them being happy together as two very masculine gay men.

This is the first time I've asked a question, but first I just wanted to say that I love your art!! I wonder what the archivists' anatomy must be like, do they have organs? or they would be made of some space material or even have a vital core made of a star.

The way I envision physical form is more of a mimicry of a body than an actual organic entity. Particles of stardust being moved and reshaped by the magic they consist of, sticking together to form an approximation of a mortal body and functioning as an outer shell to protect it. The thing about muscles is that they use relatively little energy compared to the work they do; they mostly need some to contract, tendons working as ropes pulling bones, while reshaping the whole arm to move it I imagine would require much more energy. (Its why as very small kids they are more glowy and "fluid" more reshaping). There isn't much difference between the Collector conjuring a doll in WaD and conjuring a form. With magic suppliying energy there isn't really a need for organs, its just the basic mechanical system to interact with physical world

For the bluish patches on the skin, it's where the magic seeps through. That's why they get darker and cover more area as they get older, having more magic at their disposal. Shapes are sort of souvenirs from the time as shapless magical creature mimicked the things around them, be it a bright star or a nearby planet they formed close to. As for why it's the color it is, it's just the color celestial magic takes in that form

Froooom a more design point of view, it looked better to have a bluish hue to me, and it's a element to distinguish between characters and keep them looking like family since drawing faces is tricky. And I do like the body horror aspect of unorganic creatures trying to mimic living
