As the new football season kicks off again I was wondering about both my passions, music and football. This prompted me to think of footballers who actually felt the need to combine both with their "talents". We all thought fondly of John Barnes' rap on New Order's "World In Motion" in 1990 and also "Anfield Rap (Red Machine In Full Effect)" by the Liverpool FC Cup Final team in 1988. Both were a success reaching number 1 and number 3 respectively on the UK charts. These songs however were rarities in their pop respectability as we will find out. Other soccer stars' fared less well.

This is a link to the song Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield. Now you might be thinking, ‘why?!’. One of the more comedic players on the team always picked a song. Well, this song was the song that keep my senior year going through the long hours on the practice grounds. Through those long runs up hills with players on our backs. Literally on our backs! The 90minutes of straight fitness. And most of all the dreaded 2 mile sprint to sum it all up.
The feeling of singing and running never came easy to me. But it’s what we did to keep going. The song summed up my expectations of the year. It was my senior year on the team and I had be unwritten up to that point when the last second fell off the clock. Now, things are in the past and the trophy had been lifted. All the success and records were tallied. All the games and scores were written.
Continuing the music streak...some more music I would have on my soccer playlist and anything decent.
It's been a while since I posted some music. Here's the song I discovered recently. Listen, learn, love...
