“normal” is too overrated, if you ask me. just a nebulous standard that changes depending on what society deems to be the majority of a given scenario while those stepping outside the lines of said majority are considered anomalies and in desperate need to join the larger group, even when there is fundamentally nothing harmful in those remaining minorities. if someone was to do a poll on seventy different people that asked for their favorite flavor of ice cream, and sixty-eight said they liked chocolate, then society would be so quick to claim the remaining two vanilla are the abnormal ones. a very innocuous case here, but it’s still very easy for what is essentially a word being used to define “the majority of xyz” to be weaponized into “there is something you need to fix because you don’t align with that majority”, which I just find to be a very dangerous mindset. there’s a time and place wherein certain behaviors or mindsets should be conformed to, whether it be for the sake of one’s own mental health or creating a more comfortable and safe environment for everyone involved, but in the context of that ice cream analogy? just let people be. let people do what makes them happy and comfortable. maybe they’re allergic to chocolate; maybe they just simply don’t like the flavor. that doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with those two individuals who like vanilla or mint in comparison to the others who like chocolate. they aren’t hurting you. let them be happy and comfortable in peace.
words have meaning. they have weight.

Anyways, yeee. Ice cream is nice <33
