I find it disturbing that most humans would literally rather die than face an embarrassing/uncomfortable situation and that this is just an accepted norm in society

New Societal Norm:

I’d like to see it become socially acceptable to lay all your baggage out on the first date/hangout with a new love interest or friend. That way, whatever it is can just be out in the open and if you or the person can’t handle it, then you can decide that then, and neither of you gets emotionally attached. Or they’ll choose to want to get to know you more regardless and bam! Genuine connection has been realized.

(As an introvert I actually find the vulnerability of this concept terrifying, but would genuinely like to see honesty and openness become standard in all human interactions, because that way if someone wants to judge, they can choose to do so right away, and it also would keep people from feeling the need to put on an act to impress anyone. Just people being themselves, because from where I’m standing, everyone is fucked up in some way and everyone has issues and baggage, and wouldn’t it just be nice to embrace that in each other, or at the very least admit when something’s too much for you to handle?)

I feel like we can't accept everything that society says is the norm just because society says. We have GOT to start thinking critically about the images we are presented with everyday.

Societal Norm (My Discussion Post in College)

I wanna show you guys my post in COLLEGE just now....Some of you guys will really respect and appreciate it...some of you will not... John: I am glad we are at week six and the amount of trouble that I can get into for speaking the truth is at a minimum now. With that said, I will explain both in the best way that I know how. Now, society is very focused on main stream and lies rather than digging deep for truths that are uncomfortable or not convenient. Society basically defines normal as anything that the main stream media has told them is normal. I take great pride in not being normal under those terms. Society thinks that normal is sending my children to school so they can be taught false histories and propaganda put forth by our government. Society thinks that normal is to do whatever the powers that be tell us to do. Fluoride is put in our water, but the societal norm is to not even question it or wonder what the dangers are. Societal norm is to never question whether there is life on other planets. Societal norm is to believe in a false creator that has never ever ever been proven or shown any evidence of. That is called mass hallucination or delusion. Societal norm is to consider anyone that questions the norm to be crazy conspiracy theorist that should be locked up. Societal norm is to follow holidays without even researching the origin of them and realizing that they are false pagan celebrations that have just been recreated for no reason.  Societal norm is for people to be either LEFT or RIGHT politically. The concept of believing in other parties or philosophies such as liberty and libertarian is considered EXTREME and even terrorist according to federal documents. Societal norm is to say that things are not real even when evidence shows that they are, such as false flag attacks orchestrated by leaders of countries, banker control over the entire planet, and even science. Societal norm is to pre-judge and even distrust anyone that looks different from themselves or chooses to not be robots. If you have gold teeth, you must be a drug dealer. If you have tattoos, you must be a gangsta or killer. If you have felonies, you can never change. If your fat, you eat too much. They never think that it may have nothing to do with food at all. For instance, I am fat due to the sugar I consume and lack of consistent exercise. Societal norm is to believe that anyone that thinks different from them should have their kids taken away. MSNBC says that our children belong to society and the communities, not to us as parents.  Societal norm is to just follow the flow. They never want anyone to rock the boat or question anything. The fact that I am against much of the animal and environmental destruction out there makes me a tree-hugger. The fact that I listen to hip hop and am originally from an urban area makes me a thug and a criminal. The fact that I do not want my kids to take vaccines with mercury in them makes me a loony tune. Normal to society seems to basically be anything that the government controlled media and television tells us is normal. Now teenage girls think it's normal to dress like sluts and talk about sex. Women think its normal to disrespect men in the name of equality. Men think its ok to let the woman lead their house because TV says it's normal. The truth is that ALL WOMEN want a strong man that has the ability to be a head coach. No woman wants a soft, weak man and I refuse to believe any woman that says she does.  Societal norm is to now categorize sex as RECREATION rather than REPRODUCTION. Societal norm wants to tell us that we are to accept things that have not been accepted over the years. Now, if I think the act of being gay is nasty, they think that I am SCARED of gays. I have always hated the word "homophobia". I think it is inaccurate to the fullest. Societal norm now wants us to accept 15 year old being able to get the day after pills without their parents. Societal norm now wants our children to be able to sneak, have sex, and then kill the baby without us even knowing a thing. Societal norm tells me that I am too strict or keeping my daughter in jail because I do not let her date and experience love. Forget the fact that she is a CHILD. Societal norm says that I should just risk my entire household and finances by letting her go out and get an STD or get pregnant when we all know that I WILL be the one responsible for it.  Societal norm wants us to conform and FOLLOW the lead, rather than be leaders.  That is the new norm, but not MY norm. To me, a human should normally question everything, make their own decisions, and stand up and be strong as a leader of their household. To me, the norm should be to actually listen and learn and pay attention to people before we judge them. To me, the norm should be to put knowledge above social life...Unfortunately, my norm will never be the norm to the masses. Because of that, we are doomed as a society, nation, and human race.  And that my friends...is the new normal.

Tumblr, I could use your help!

In my anthropology class I have to pick a cultural norm to break, go out and break it, and then write a paper on the experience. I did the same project for psychology last year by dressing up like a fairy and dancing through grocery stores. 

So I'm trying to think of a norm to break for this year and I'm wondering if you guys have any ideas that are cooler than mine. The experiment can't be offensive or put anyone in harm's way. 

Any suggestions?
