“What?” he asked with a half-laugh, tilting his head, as if amused by my sudden shift.
“Nothing, it’s just-”
He caught my chin gently, turning me back to face him. His voice softened. “Tell me.”
The words slipped out before I could stop them. “I love you, Xaden.”
Chapter 31: Hot Blooded
“Right here?” Xaden whispered.
“Yes,” I breathed.
His lips pressed softly against my skin, careful at first, like he was testing something fragile.
“And here?” he asked, just beneath it.
“Hm.” I nodded, barely thinking.
Another kiss followed, slower this time. I let out a quiet laugh when he trailed them up, mapping a path along my neck like he meant to remember every inch.

Xaden’s fingers traced along my jaw, tilting my chin up so I’d meet his gaze again. His dark eyes searched mine, waiting, watching.
“You regret asking?” he murmured.
“No.” My voice was barely above a whisper.
His hand slid down my throat and cupped my neck, pressing gently on my pulse point, and I felt it quicken under his touch.
“Good.” His lips brushed mine, barely a kiss. “Because I’d rather focus on something else right now.”

Something sharp and sad twisted in my chest. “I miss Basgiath,” I admitted, voice tight with restraint.
He stepped even closer and lifted my chin gently, his fingers rough and warm against my skin.
“I miss you.”

“You do know our rooms are in the opposite direction, don’t you?” Xaden’s gravelly voice cut through the haze of my thoughts, slowing my pace but not stopping me.
We fell into step, side by side, though our conversation was too subtle for any bystander to notice. Still, the sight of us walking together was risky enough.
“This can’t wait,” I said firmly.
“And neither can my concern for your safety. Don’t do something reckless.”

Xaden stood in the center of the room, shirtless, his body glistening with sweat. His sword moved through the air with deadly precision, slicing through invisible opponents in a graceful yet brutal dance. His muscles rippled with every strike, the blade an extension of his body, perfectly controlled.
I had never seen his rebellion mark fully before.
I had rough couple of weeks recently and due to constant stress and distractions I couldn’t write or read anything. Idk if anyone waiting for a new chapter but I thought I should post an update. I always think about Aurora and will update soon, I just need time.
