This entire project has felt like a miracle since it was announced. All the different pieces fit perfectly with each other and the source material. But the best of all is that it delivers. With this epic, Guillermo del Toro reminds us of the reasons why Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is considered one of the defining works in modern literature. Even though the novel was published more than 200 years ago, the story and its themes continue to feel incredibly timely. And all of it is rendered to life with lavishly stunning production values, especially the costumes and the sets. Also, Jacob Elordi's central performance is simply sublime, the true heart of the movie. Anyway, del Toro's take on Frankenstein is probably the definitive adaptation of this classic masterpiece.
