Although she has endured so much heartache from losing her owner, coupled with the pain from the injuries she sustained while living alone on the streets, Sofi really came out of her shell quickly once she knew she was safe with our rescue partners! Sofi visited the veterinarian for an exam and it was determined that she sustained some kind of trauma to her spine. Unfortunately, Sofi is permanently paralyzed. Because she had been dragging herself on pavement and dirt while she was on her own, the skin on her legs is very raw. Sofi's legs have been bandaged and she's wearing protective boots so that her skin can heal. Her wounds are being cleaned and bandages changed twice daily. Sofi is also incontinent, so she is now wearing diapers. On top of this, Sofi had parasites in her stool sample, so she is taking medication for that. Finally, Sofi is on a special diet to optimize her health, and is taking vitamins daily.
