OK but I think the best thing about Rachel (as an idea, not a person obvi) is she's just living her life, shooting her shot, chilling with this cute boy with the guitar / they're being playful, spontaneous but also the both of them aren't looking for a huge thing (at least with each other / right now).
And the fun element of her and Annabeth having a preexisting working+creative relationship is they KNOW each other, they've discussed the metatextual stuff Annabeth wanted to convey about the songs on her first album, they talked about the vibes of album art and music videos and concerts and how they should make listeners feel - giddy & flirty, deeply in love, heartbroken, seeing that you're better off without *him*, etc based on how the people/situations they're based on made A feel!
So when Annabeth sees Percy and Rachel vibing together (a la that time they got lunch and that played into A not kissing P in the bar), she's not going to snap at her and want her to butt out like BOTL Annabeth. She's going to wonder what's wrong with her that everyone she loves distances, fights wi her and leaves her. She's going to be wounded and sad and try to stay away from Perachel because she genuinely likes the both of them separately and they seem happy!
