Wowait I'm just now catching wind Ichigo is the Squad 5 captain in your story?!! And Momo is his lieutenant?! Both characters Hitsu deeply cares for in the same place?! :D (1/2)

Yeah, I think I have Ichigo inserted in Squad Five? TBH it’s probably subject to change, since it’s not immediately plot-relevant.

However - assuming I don’t change this! No, Ichigo is definitely aware of the sibling drama. Hinamori makes excuses to leave whenever Hitsugaya comes around, and when they do have to see each other she ignores him, and he can’t bring himself to say anything.

Ichigo views her as a lieutenant, and a lieutenant that should have been very competent if it hadn’t been for Aizen’s interference. He sympathizes with her on a personal level because- he KNOWS exactly what it feels like to get fucked over by that bastard, and he knows what personal betrayal is like as well (ie Isshin keeping shit from him about his mom and etc)

He’s also well aware that she’s not over what Aizen did to her, and is aware that her mental health isn’t good because of it. However - he wants her to heal, to see the damage Aizen did to her. And thus he’s not exactly willing to tolerate any excuses she makes for his actions, or any irrational behavior while she’s healing. He’ll allow her to vent when she needs to, with the understanding that he’ll probably talk to her later about it. 

So in some regards, it’s very professional-casual - similar to Shinji and Momo’s relationship. But in other ways, there’s very much a wall there, because Ichigo does not want to hear anything even remotely related to Aizen being misunderstood, or misguided, or etc. And Hinamori...she still doesn’t want to admit that someone she cared about so deeply could have hurt her so badly. So they’ve got kind of a mutual DMZ of topics to avoid. (and Toushiro is one of those topics. Ichigo knows they had a falling-out, but he doesn’t know what went down and neither Hinamori nor Hitsugaya wants to talk. So he just....sits and worries)

Currently, is Hitsu willing to abandon being a shinigami in general & cutting off those who are close to him in his home world (Rangiku, Momo, Ichigo etc) bc he favors izuku? bc he's working thru his mental issues, will he and momo ever reconnect positively and work thru their issues in this story? and will he be okay with his close friends in the other world not calling him by his title either when they come along? (we know momo and ichigo never did lol, but ichigo does that w everyone).

Okay! I actually got ur asks this time! I’ll put them all here though, and answer all at once - in order that they appear in here.

1) Is Hitsu willing to abandon his shinigami life for Izuku and Class 1-A? No. Not really ever - the only exception will be if Soul Society threatens Class 1-A. Then and only then will he turn his back on Soul Society

2) Hinamori may appear again, who knows? But she has her own issues to work through, and she has said some pretty hurtful stuff to Hitsu in this verse. They may both get to apologize, but working through their issues will take...a LOT of time, and I’m not sure I plan on writing that far into an epilogue.

3) Nope. Him asking Izuku to call him by name and not title is symbolic. Hitsugaya knows that he may have to throw away his Captaincy to protect Class 1-A, and so, with Izuku, he’s preemptively doing that to remind himself of what he stands to lose. Bleach-world folks don’t have this same issue with him.

4) I’m planning on Ichigo having issues - since he was also fairly young during the wars, and ended up losing/almost losing a LOT but he’s far more adept at working through those issues because...Bleach-world human mental health is much better than in Seireitei. (Unfortunately, he’s not going to show up for a while though.) And then Hinamori will have issues, obviously.

5) No worries! I didn’t pick up on any passive aggressive vibes, I don’t think. 

And you’re entirely right to be worried. SS is strict, and the dual slaughter of Central 46 didn’t help much (though Hitsu *did* have a hand in rebuilding the central gov’t) - and, Kyoraku isn’t the type to go easy on a traitor. But....what actually happens is ~spoilers~ so :P

I LOVE dragonblade, tho with the recent chap I was confused on what you meant about Izubutt and Bakubutt changing their worldviews/understanding? 97% of the time, Izuku ranted to Hitsubutt about Friendship and what his manipulative actions Meant To Him. what really "changed" for izuku when it seems like his overall opinion never really changed? he forgave him, and I can see hitsu WANTS to be trusting but for a very understandable reason isnt. They dont trust eachother. are they still friends?

(This is gonna be a book, sorry XD)

Changing one’s worldview takes a massive amount of time, introspection, and careful deconstruction of all the ideas - usually ideals - ground into your thought process. This is the very beginning of that, and frankly it’s a very significant first step.

Hitsugaya has done something that runs starkly counter to how Midoriya has always viewed the world and morality - he’s killed someone in cold blood, while they were essentially surrendering to him. To someone as idealistic - and young - as Midoriya, this is pretty much the epitome of villainy. 

And yet this act was committed by a person he knows to be capable of kindness, to be capable of selflessness and love and friendship. And for someone so caught up in ideals, it can be really, REALLY hard to come to terms with the fact that, at the end of the day, villains are human. Good people can do bad things for the wrong reasons. Bad people can do good things for the right reasons. And some folks walk right down the center, in the grey zone forever.

Midoriya had a choice here - to hang on to the simple system of morality he knew - and given the BnHA world, probably grew up with - or to bend a little, to acknowledge that Hitsugaya wasn’t beyond forgiveness, that there was a relationship worth preserving. He chose to step into the confusing world of grey morality for the sake of a friend, and to forgive Hitsugaya for something he viewed as murder. He knows not to trust Hitsugaya now - but only in the sense that he can’t expect Hitsugaya to put himself first, or to look for a solution without sacrifice. 

Hitsugaya, on the other hand, is being taught to trust, because he’ s really, really bad at that. His intention for and expectation of Midoriya and the other students was that - even when they knew the truth - they would view him as evil, as a villain to fear. This is behavior he was counting on - and Midoriya defies that. He actively chooses to forgive Toushiro over shunning him for being a murderer and this is goes so vehemently against everything that Toushiro expected that he kind of cracks. Hitsugaya is well aware of his own cynicism and that his moral code differs greatly from many, but he’s also poignantly aware that most people, when faced with something they find immoral, tend to demonize it, or demonize the person responsible for it. 

This reaction is what he expects, and instead Midoriya essentially says ‘I don’t understand, but I care about you enough to reexamine my personal views and forgive you for hurting me in the way you did’. It’s enough to make someone as aloof as Hitsugaya burst into tears, because that kind of friendship isn’t something he’s ever had without Shinigami stuff tainting it and it was offered to him freely, in spite of what he was and had done. This was massively important to Hitsugaya.

They’re definitely still friends, one-hundred percent.
