Tarot question: Why are natural and man-made disasters rampant these times?
Disclaimer: I'm still a tarot beginner, for almost three weeks. My interpretation of the cards may not be as deep and detailed as the seasoned readers. However, the card spread is open to other/additional interpretations. Thank you.
1.) What's the reason behind it? (Four of cups + Judgement)
Disconnection with nature and humanity; too busy focusing and dreaming on the external world; people unwilling to take action and tend to overlook something important/obvious; cup being offered from the cloud could mean that these disasters are the divine’s intervention to shake and wake people up. Reckoning. Consequences of humans' past actions rather than divine punishment. There’s a need for reevaluation of the world’s various systems. Awakening of collective responsibility.
2.) What's the divine purpose behind it? (Three of cups + Three of pentacles)
Community, collaboration, and balance (both cards in 3’s). We are all interconnected. No man should act in isolation (whether in working for a solution or just own personal gain). People should be working and supporting each other during tough times. Connecting with others to achieve the goal of healing and sustainable change. From separation to reconnection and from destruction to reconstruction.
3.) What’s the lesson humans need to learn from it? (Eight of swords + Ace of cups)
People are feeling trapped in the situation and are paralyzed by fear. Helpless; not seeing the bigger picture or what’s actually being offered why these things are happening (Ace of cups). The lesson we humans need to learn here is that the power to break free has always been in our hands. (It’s like no one will save us but ourselves). These two cards also indicate one’s inner journey. Once we break free from our internal blockages, it will reward new beginnings and inner fulfilment. Moreover, we may think that we’re forever stuck in this cycle of events but actually, new beginnings are always available to us (only if we take action towards it).
4.) Bottom of the deck - Hermit
This card emphasizes the importance of seeking authentic truth, deeper purpose, and wisdom within us, which leads to healing and personal transformation. Instead of impulsive reactions and solutions to global crises, we are all called to gain a higher perspective so we may reflect on repeating patterns, what truly matters, and what to prioritize. To spark effective ripples of change, deeper understanding and awareness come first, and authentic healing and embodiment should follow.
