Maybe he should get his hair cut; it’s getting ridiculously long. Just one of the multitude of thoughts that cross his mind at seeing Ari approaching and moving the strands out of his eyes. It’s something akin to finally being able to actually see, no longer squinting through the haze. Then again, he’s gotten used to it so it’s not that bad. Maybe. Probably. He doesn’t need glasses. Yet. 

Blink, blink. The compliment is unexpected as seen by how crimson eyes widen ever so slightly. “ Hmm? Is that so? ” it’s.  .  .  curious, to say the least. Gaze the colour of dried blood or wine or rubies. Shades of red that change constantly depending on how the light hits, always another one. “ Are they not terrifying? ” and a slight hum to his words that quickly gets drowned out “ From the get-go, their colour is off-putting. ” scarlet, almost like a warning to not trust him for who can entrust themselves to such an odd creature? Entirely humane ( but not human! ) until gazes meet and sharp rows of teeth are displayed in a mockery of a smile. “ Demonic even, if you will. ” and dead, shine lost seemingly an eternity ago and replaced with a lacklustre look instead. 

It’s not sadness that stares back into blues -- no, greys -- no, purplish? hard to tell -- but something.  .  .  dull. Something that says I’ve seen things. and that promises that they haven’t been kind. It’s a tragedy but without the suffocating feeling of unhappiness. It’s anguish, grief, hopelessness. It’s melancholy and misery and sorrow. It’s a cry for help muted behind a chant of Nobody is here to save you. that sounds more like fingernails against a chalkboard than anything.

Feet now firmly planted on the ground, Prompto wrapped his arms around Noctis’s shoulders. “Nah. Just saw my favourite guy in the world is all! Almost as good as a chocobo. Almost.”

“Almost as good as a chocobo? Huh. I’ll take that compliment. Any reason why?” He grinned and carefully pushed up, holding on to Prompto as he got them on their feet. A slight twinge appeared on his face as pain crept up his back. “You say it like chocobos are better than me.”

I hate this. So much. 

Okay so, yes, I know my muse is a prince but if I keep seeing every other reply turning into ‘spoiled prince’ this and ‘not kingly enough’ that, I’m going to get bored with you. I’m going to drop that thread. 

Why? 

Because there’s more to a muse than one or two traits and I don’t see Noctis as being spoiled. He’s twenty fucking years old so please tell me you were omg spr srs mature at twenty. Please. Because I’m twenty-seven and I’m still giggling at butt jokes like I’m thirteen. Let him be a goofy goober while he can okay? Boy’s gonna die when he’s thirty and lose ten years of his life to a bitchy God who can’t clean up his own damn messes.

And please, don’t assume he’s going to be unkind. Noct quite literally does what he can to help people in Lucis while he can, sure he’s getting something in return for it but the fact of the matter is he doesn’t have to do it in the first place but he still does. 

I’ve seen so many people going on about him being spoiled and selfish and I’m sorry but I just don’t see it. 

He has to fight to get to do what he wants. He can’t even go to the arcade without being hunted down by someone to protect him. Forget going out to a bar and getting drunk. You better believe he can’t date anyone because the scandal would absolutely follow him his entire life. He’s not even living with his father, doesn’t remember his mother’s voice, lost his twin brother a few days after birth (blog headcanon), and then loses his home city and gets the crown thrown at him. 

But yet. People want to say he’s selfish. Surejan.gif.

As for other muses? I will never assume anything of your character. Canon or not, OC or not, I don’t know shit about how someone chooses to write their character until I actually get a chance to talk to them and see for myself. I have no right to assume anything of their muse so if I start asking fifty goddamn questions - that’s me trying to learn how you write them.

Now look, I know we all played the same FFXV game (or at least, I hope we did) so canon gives me a good idea of what might be there but canon divergent exists. And you know what? There’s nothing wrong with being a canon divergent blog. Add in what you think is relevant for your muse, they’re yours now. Write that character the way you see them.

Don’t worry about anyone tf else. You do you and keep killing it, okay?

None of this made sense now that he was seeing it online. Noctis paused and leaned over to take a better look at the screen, listening as Prompto read. "Euthanized is just a fancier way of saying he was killed," he muttered. "An infection can't do that though, can it?"

The footage was what caused him to pause.

Bitten, turned, then killed. Noctis frowned and put his chin on Prompto's shoulder for a moment. "I didn't think it was either. Like I said, Ignis stopped giving me reports so I don't know what's going on with my dad. Whatever this is, it seems like they're trying to cover it up but now? It's out there. This won't go away easily."

"A quarantine could easily end up making things worse though. Just imagine - someone else needs a doctor but the closest hospital is under quarantine? It'll be madness out there." As if it weren't already.

He could hear horns blaring from the main road near Prompto's house and people shouting nearby, doors slamming. People were either hunkering down or trying to get out of the city. So far, Noctis didn't know which was the better option.

A part of him didn't want to think of what it was but he knew that Prompto was avoiding saying it for a reason. Saying it would make it real and they couldn't face that. Not right then.

"Not if we can help it," he answered. "We can go out there and save them, you know that. We have to. Maybe there's some people who don't get sick when they're bitten." It was a crazy suggestion and one that he didn't think would actually fly. Noctis could only hope that this was going to pass.

He shifted on the bed, bouncing slightly, and grabbed a pair of jeans. Honestly, he wasn't sure whose they were but they fit decently enough. "The town's not on shut down yet. If we can get to the hospital, we can get them out of here. Then we can come back here and let them rest. I'll go grab some stuff - food, water, supplies - and then come back. If you want, we can head over to my apartment too and hole up there for a while. You know, I've got balconies and stuff. This'll blow over."

He hoped.

If Omen puts another Oreo in his mouth, Ari's totally gonna do it again. Except this time, his lips will "accidentally" brush against Omen's as he steals it. "Mmn, wow, better than the last one. Thanks!"

Brush brush. The touch brings colour to his face, previously pale cheeks now slowly matching scarlet gaze. Whatever Ari is trying to do is working or at the very least having some kind of effect on Omen who’s left staring at the blond. Ooookkaaaay, his Oreo theory has at least been proven right.

“ Yeah, don’t. Don’t mention it. ” and now what ? Is he supposed to do something in return? Kiss back or what? It’s not like they are anything more than friends so. Does it really matter, though? Maybe not.

Without thinking much about it, he cups Ari’s cheeks and tugs him closer, pressing their lips together in an unusually gentle kiss before he pulls away and stuffs his mouth with more biscuits. Oh jeez.
