Solicited Review: Snugg iPad Case
When the people at Snugg contacted me about reviewing one of their iPad cases, my first inclination was to pass. This isn't a gadget blog, and I don't own an ipad, so I failed to see why this would be the appropriate outlet for such a review. A couple of days my wife purchased an iPad air, so I asked Snugg to send me a a case because I'm a cheap bastard who couldn't bear to see her pay for one when a free case was just an email away.
I opted for the Snugg iPad Air Case Cover and Flip Stand in Black Leather. When the case arrived, I was immediately struck by how free it was. Yup, free shit is awesome. It's way better than paying for things. The second thing that struck me was that he name is a bit of a misnomer. It's made of something called PU leather, which a cursory Google search tells me is more commonly known as pleather. As fake leather goes, it actually isn't bad. The Snugg case is fairly light, reasonably handsome, and all of its holes are in the right place (which incidentally is the way my last blind date was described to me. I do not miss being single). The case also performs all kids of crazy tech magic; the cover activates the ipad's sleep and wake functions when opened and closed. I don't know if this is a common feature among iPad cases, but it blew my luddite mind.
At $29.99, it's probably the case I would have purchased if I had to spend my own hard-earned money, but I didn't because they gave it to me for sweet, sweet price of free-ninety-nine. I didn't even have to write this super-honest, super-earnest review, but I did. If you have a loved one who's probably going to drop and break the shit out of their iPad, you could definitely do worse in the Christmas present department than Snugg's PU leather cases.
