“I don’t see Mom nearly enough. She didn’t meet Frankie and Juanita until almost a year after we adopted them, after we settled down at Grissom. Her duties as an admiral and mine as a teacher keep us apart a lot, I guess. We vidcall every week or so, and either we travel to Earth or she comes to Grissom every several months. Still, it’s not weird anymore to not be on the same ship as her all the time.”

Does “the training field” ever become a euphemism?

Haha not really for Hanin, but the people he gets involved with tend to use it like one! It usually leads to hilarious misunderstandings because Hanin just grabs his weapon and starts heading for the door while his partner is like “????”

On a scale of 1-100 of happiness this makes me, it's approximately 1235. He'd make such a critical old man...

He just complains about being ‘old and fat’, and develops a really hideous cough from all the silver dust and his smoking-since-the-age-14 habit, and yells out the window at loud people in the alleyway who keep him awake, and makes up numerous stories about how he lost his fingers to keep people from fucking with him. He is a fixture of the campo seta dockyards.
