Gate: Updating about Asreal, we’ve got a plan to keep her contained when she returns. That way we can properly confront her and calm her down. I’m glad I can actually help the system with something as I have a big part in this effort. Though, I’ve never met Asreal, I just know she’s an alter that’s been dormant for a few years now.
Gate: host and ANP still missing, cue my awkwardness in trying to act normal.
Hi everyone, my name is Gate. I didn’t expect to be fronting but it appears One is currently “missing”. This was likely caused by the ongoing trauma we’re facing at home and the recent loss of a childhood pet. Said pet was the only thing that made us feel loved when we were a child living in an abusive environment. This loss was very hard on One and many other members of the system, thus I am here. It may seem sudden but I started forming as an alter at the beginning of the month, and with last weeks events snapping me into my full existence. I’m not a pillar, thus my name is just Gate. Please be patient with us, I’m unsure where One has gone, and there currently is no one else suitable to front other than me. I am being shadowed by my mentor Three however I did just form recently. My mistakes are my own.
someone very close to me recently came out as a system to me. what resources would you recommend to someone who doesn't have DID to help me more supportive/a better ally? I've done research so I know some basic info, but I want to learn more. I hope you all have a very nice day!
Gate: There are plenty of ways to support your friend and I think just being patient and understanding is the best way to do it. Be open to talking with them if they want to share with you, and also give them space when they need it. All headmates are different, so not everyone might end up wanting to be your friend. But I think just wanting to be supportive is a great thing! I’m not too good at answering these types of questions as sadly we don’t have any friends that are supportive or know we have DID and our therapist suggested it was unsafe to tell family. However, my best resource for you is r/AskDID on Reddit! I think just scrolling around there, reading posts and comments can really help you. You can also ask questions there if you’re ever curious.
DID is a trauma related mental illness, of course, so patience and love is the best thing.
Hi Gate! Hope everything goes well for you, and I hope your situation gets better as time goes on. :)
Thank you, I hope so too! I’m simply trying my best.
