Frozen II: Soundtrack review
1 - All is Found: folk song that works, not much memorable but no bad. It’s like Frozen Heart, foreshadowing the whole movie. I like of Evan Rachel Wood voice is deeper but not to much, still is sweet, like a mother sounds.
2 - Something Never Change: bland pop, the type song that the Lopez writing a lot and I don’t like (I am look at you: Love is an Upon Door, Why Do You Know About Love? and etc..), who like of pop music with their repetitive chords that exists in thousand of songs, this will works well.
3 - Into the Unknown: I already commented about this one. Is a catchy pop song, so catchy like Let it Go, but no so well organized between the verses and chorus, sound like two song in one. One song wants to be more musical with orchestration, another wants to be more pop with repetitive beats. A problem that almost fucked up Let it Go.
4 - When I am Older: a low version of In Summer! that try emulate Richard Rodgers style. The lyrics are so vague that any person could be sing, nothing say “Olaf””. Same problem in the first movie with Love is an Upon Door. This is a musical not a artist album, the lyrics need tell “Who are those characters?”.
5 - Lost in the Woods: Same problem with this one, vague lyrics about a guy insecure if his girl loves him or not. The Lopez could be take any 80′s love song and put in the place that don’t will make diference. It’s not really bad but forgettable.
6 - Show Yourself: is the best of movie in artistics terms. Has emotion, a melody poignant that grown with the characters delevopment. The use of All is Found is adequate because we arrived at the conclusion of the story, it's the Eleven O’Clock Number.
7 - The Next Right Thing: this is part talked that grown to be singed, is a soliloquy song, of course, that the Lopez don’t have talent to do anything like this classic Soliloquy. The song is all carried out for Kristen Bell, she just nailed it, put all emotion that goes grown to Anna’s determination to do the right thing, when her beautiful soprano voice start sound strong. The music? melody? the orchestra is there to accompany Bell's show, there is nothing identifiable about the music, it sounds like a background music rather than a song really means: union of singing and melody.
The soundtrack is below of the first movie, where the Lopez didn't indulge in simple pop and wrote some memorable pieces like Do You Wanna Build a Snowman? and For the First Time in Forever. Here the Lopez indulged in pop, most are forgettable.
abazethe100replied to your post: I don't know if you have an opinion on this but......
people should also look at how he reacted with Gina died. He tends to not take death of the people he loves well. He freezes up emotionally
Oh, yes. Definitely! But then I would have written another 2 pages of gibberish and confusing thoughts probably. Haha!
For the sake of completeness, my two cents: Another thing Bellamy tends to do is to distance himself in moments of hurt and pain. It’s a defense mechanism. Conceal, don’t feel, don’t think about it and just keep going. Place all the unwanted emotions in a little box, throw it in a lake and bury the key so it won’t be found. And then distract yourself so you don’t have to think about it. This might also be the key difference between the situation of loosing Gina and Clarke to the one with Octavia.
