Can I have some weird Pokémon facts? Weirdest things you can think of, go!
Oh, I know some weird things about Pokemon. Prepare yourself.
- The Phantump line is carnivorous. There was an old legend about Trevenants being the revived spirits of people buried at the roots of trees. This is because sometimes, Trevenants would root near these sites, and basically... absorb what was down there. They've also been known to eat bones if they're hungry enough. Don't worry- there's ever been a recorded case of a Trevenant eating a live person.
- Slugmas are fully capable of just... turning into a lava puddle with eyes and a mouth. It's as bizarre to witness as you're probably thinking. It's a defence mechanism against their very few predators- makes them look unappetizing and strange.
- If a Ribombee is hungry enough, it will straight up attack other pollinator Pokemon and steal their food. There are several recorded rivalries between Combee hives and Ribombee hives due to this. They're scary aggressive, when most people tend to assume they're sweet and passive because they're cute, and also Fairy Types.
- Victreebels, contrary to the popular belief that they stay still and just let prey fall into their stomachs, actively hunt. They surround themselves and their lairs with vines and when something gets close enough, they drag it in before it has a chance to fight back. There are old horror stories from Kanto, mother's tales essentially, of a little girl getting eaten by a Victreebel when she wandered into the woods. It's nothing more than a cautionary tale, but a very effective one!
- I know I've said this one before, but I'll say it again here: there's a deep sea variant of Gastrodon that is a Water/Dark type, and it has no eyes. I love it.
- Throh and Sawk aren't wearing clothes. That's just how their bodies look. This is the case with pretty much any Pokemon that looks like its wearing clothes, but Throw and Sawk have very convincing outfits, so they're getting the specific mention. It is VERY jarring to put a hand on them, expecting cloth, and instead touching skin, if you're not expecting it. I am speaking from personal experience.
- Lurantis' are cannibals. Usually only when necessary, but yeah the females have been known to eat their male mates, and even feed them to their young, if needed! It's brutal out there.
- Cacturnes are persistence predators, like humans. They will just slowly follow their prey for as long as it takes. And unlike most examples on this list- they have been known to hunt humans if they're hungry enough. There are, however, very few cases where a Cacturne has actually succeeded in hunting a human.
Some of these are more terrifying than they are weird but those are off the top of my head! I know a lot of strange facts about Pokemon, haha.
