As much as I absolutely love monster x human movies like Frankenstein and The Shape of Water I can't help but notice that in every situation it's always a beautiful lady who falls in love with a humanoid man and not a handsome man falling for a monster lady.

It got me thinking about how girls are usually portrayed as loving the monster despite his appearance and mental state and how women are usually expected and pressured into fitting into society's beauty standards and that kinda led me down a thought rabbit hole about all the horror movies out there that use a female villain/antagonistic almost always make her old, grotesque, or deformed in some way to show that she's less human or evil (which i think is a disgusting mind set.) And the male villain is almost always attractive or at least an average-looking guy.

It feels like every dude deserves to be loved regardless of looks but when a woman is unattractive suddenly she's the villain.

Like, a man can quite literally be a monster or a mass murderer and still get more sympathy and empathy than a woman just existing.

As soon as a woman's body changes to anything other than a sex object or a model for a man's pleasure suddenly she's ugly and gross apparently.

You get old; ugly.

You get pregnant; ugly.

You live life outside of mainstream beauty; ugly.

But none of these things are true!

Like, why is there this weird non-spoken rule that movie makers have about appearances when it comes to monster x human relationships??

I need to see some cute/charming dude fall absolutely in love with a monster girl and I don't mean a supermodel Chad fucking some objectively beautiful woman with minimal prosthetics so she doesn't turn off the male audience, I mean a normal dude with charming features and a cryptid-ish monster lady with fuckin creature features falling in love and shit like the other movies do!

We've been robbed and deprived of cryptid girls in our media for so long and I want more!

But enough of my thoughts, what are your guy's opinions on this topic?
