cleansed and bathed in wondrous peace, this smiling soul: my dearest company; we never talk, but we go for walks and we plant flowers in life’s memory. - november, 2012
on music, maybe
at first it wasn’t much more than a less distracting alternative to the more and more soothing noise of the daily ordinary—so soothing it brought about a sense of peace i wasn’t ready for.
in fact, i wasn’t ready for anything, wasn’t nervous about anything, barely feeling. i was only passing life, one day at a time, with music as a comforting but insignificant constant in the background.
took a year of traceless days to know i had missed the point. no backdrop is insignificant: no nothing is insignificant. it is the appreciation for everything that makes possible a celebration of life without detaching one from life.
sonic companion, for instance, leaves sight untouched if not richer. recently: olafur arnalds’ living room songs and bike rides.

i wonder what fragrance it would have -- that breeze of forgotten dreams, accidentally buried under endless hours of chasing shadows and rainbows people are told to need.
Life is short. Age well.
