What kinds of things do you write? Language is always imperfect, but could you provide some glimpse into your thoughts?
As a creative entity, I like to write about the things that most reliably and mercilessly captured my attention growing up; hidden things, long stories, magical things that defy conventional explanation, worlds unlike our own and the creatures that inhabit them. As a person, I’m often steered towards writing about the multifaceted nature of love and the determination of well-intentioned people (there are not entirely unbiased motivations at work here). These two driving forces tend to culminate in variations of Urban Fantasy, although the first piece I ever intentionally wrote was a brief Pokemon story inspired by a ludicrously fortunate Nuzlocke find.
As taboo as it seems to be to think as a writer, my driving force is rarely to send a message or to change someone’s outlook on life. I just really like stories, and I think that a good tale is worth itself without the need of an intentional secondary element— whether it be moral, allegorical, political, or whatnot—to justify its existence. If I do accomplish those other things, well then that’s fantastic; but when I can write a story that has someone staying up at night to read it because they can no longer conceptualize a world where they aren’t enjoying the progression of my story, then I’ll have accomplished my highest goal as a writer and a storyteller.
