“So Mote It Be” 💙💙

“So Mote It Be”, used in modern Wiccan practices, casts a magickal practitioner’s intentions to the universe so that their will may be carried out via spellwork. Spoken at the end of a spell/ritual ensures the intent has been cast.

In some of the earliest traditions, “Mote” was integrated as part of a sacred oath. This evolved from the formation of a primitive type of court held in the forest, often beneath an Oak tree.

The court was called the Mote and was pre-Hellenic in origin. To take an oath before the Mote was to put one’s honour and word on the line.

By saying “So Mote It Be” at the end of any and all magickal practice is to make a similar affirmation. The spell becomes the practitioner’s oath to oneself and Gods. 💙💙
