Remote Control (Closed Starter)
There were very few people on Earth Angela would trust her body to in conducting medical procedures, especially those involving anesthesia because of her need to micromanage and dictate. Just as she had done with the early design stages of the Valkyrie project, she was back to testing a new mechanism that would allow for greater maneuverability and defense for the pilot. In this case, that meant surgical implants. The doctor had allowed an omnic trooper to test the device for physics before settling on baring the burden of being the first human to receive the components necessary.
The procedure lasted roughly five hours between Winston, Athena, and several assistants getting the parts assembled and responsive to her system before they closed up and had the doctor resting in a private recovery room. She’d have to go through physical therapy as well as service the device connected to her spine and scapula with program updates by the time she’d be ready for testing weeks later.
For the time being, the greatest sacrifice the doctor had made to embark on this new venture was abandoning her post. The medical wing had to run itself efficiently without her management aside from the agreed upon emergency means between her and the other doctors on staff. All she could do was rest and adapt to the new sensations of being in control of the cybernetic enhancements. A week into her recovery, she was walking upright on her own and exercising; the added weight, although only about twenty pounds considering the parts were mostly titanium and carbon, required that she spend more energy just caring it around.
The first night was a painful hassle as her scars were still healing, but she was independent enough to return to her own quarters unaccompanied, and insisted on it. She slowly changed, carefully pulling a loose-fitting tank over her shoulders whilst grimacing at the harsh sensation of skin stretching against cold metal. “It won’t be so bad soon enough..” She’d tell herself. “Just got to get used to it.”
