Today's recommendation is Black Fire by Sonni Cooper
For when you just gotta have some of that "so bad it's good" Trek fiction : )
reading black fire by sonni cooper, more spock hurt/comfort than i've ever seen all in one place before. i'm only 1/4 of the way through the book and so far he's had a severe spinal injury that eventually paralyzed him, got taken captive, is subsisting on a diet of dandelions (his captors wanna try to feed him an all-meat diet), tried to stab himself, also is being physically and psychologically tormented by an alien-species-of-the-week lady who likes to bathe and feed him after she mistreats him
basically he's serving this vibe:
and he has a romulan lady friend who he thinks is very smart and pretty, and they mind-meld and snuggle for warmth because of reasons, but he's "rarely susceptible to female beauty" 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
anyway, julina his romulan buddy has to explain to him that the mean and terrible alien lady is totally hot for him:
"I wonder what IIsa's motive was in preserving my life?"
"You must be blind, Spock. She's obviously in love with you."
"Don't be absurd, Julina. She's of an entirely different species. It wouldn't be possible… it's not logical…"
i love it when spock insists interspecies romance is not even remotely imaginable. seemed to work fine for HIS OWN PARENTS
actually, considering the fact we never meet any other terran/vulcans, any relationship he could have would be interspecies, since that's his usual "it's not you, it's me" excuse even when human women approach him
Currently Reading, with cover art by Boris Vallejo

Inconsolable about this actually
Two halves of a whole
Less than thirty pages into this book and I am going to fucking bite someone
